A large crowd filled the Mayfair
meeting room Sept. 15 at 8:00 a.m.
Members and public alike came
to voice their concerns to the Bank
of Montreal representatives concer-
ning Lucknow's need of a banking
machine. President Ben Hogervorst
welcomed George Heisz, Manager
of the Kincardine Branch and Chris
Hopfner, Manager of the Guelph
Main office and 45 others in atten-
dance.
Business matters were dealt with
including the newly planned Annual
Community Service Award and the
delegation of Chamber represen-
tatives at the Bruce County Inter-
national Plowing Match promoting
Lucknow in conjunction with Luck -
now Village Councilors.
All present would agree the
meeting was informative and
thought provoking, however, only
time will tell whether our es -

Citizens are reminded to pick up

Two charged with assault
A Exeter man and a Thedford
woman have received multiple
charges including assaultinga
police officer after a Sept. 14 inci-
dent.
An OPP officer saw the vehicle
stopped at the side of the road on
Highway 21 and stopped to check
it.
The officer found a man, woman
and two children about 16 -years -old
in the vehicle and received per-
mission to conduct a search.
Some alcohol and a plant that
looked like marijuana were found
and the officer attempted t� arrest
everyone.
OPP, Staff Sergeant Al Neville
said the two adults became uncon-
trollable and the officer called for
assistance.
Two OPP officers and an officer
from town arrived to help. Officers
had been spit on and one officer'
was kicked while subduing the two
adults, said Staff Sergeant Neville
and Sergeant Larry Munro.
As a result, a 30 -year-old Exeter
man was charged with possession
of a narcotic and assaulting an
officer.
The two were. searched at the
detachment and officers found a
switchblade in the woman's pos-
session.
The 35 -year-old Thedford area
woman, the mother of the two
children in the car,, was charged
,with possession of a prohibited
weapon, assault and mischief. •
The mischief charge resulted
when the woman tore up a,mattress
cover and stuffing in a mattress in
an OPP holding cell.
A Clifford area woman received
minor.injuries after an accident on
Lake Range Road. •
She was travelling south on the
road and was about to stop at a stop
sign whena ve tc a as. m. Ing

The driver took the turn 'too
quickly and struck the Clifford
woman's vehicle.
As a result, a 23 -year-old
Kincardine area man was charged
with failing to share the road .way;
Between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, a
1981 blue and white Toyota 4X4
was' , stolen from Tiverton. The
vehicle was parked overnight at a
residence and the owner woke up
the next morning to find the vehicle
missing.
A second vehicle was reported
stolen on Sept. '18 from Tiverton
and was later recovered by
Kincardine police.
The vehicle had been seen in tiie
evening 'parked in a lane way on
Queen Street. An officer was suspi-
cious and checked the licence plate.
However; the car had not been
reported stolen yet and the licence
check did not indicate anything out
of the ordinary.
In the morning, prior to it being
reported stolen, a complaint was
made about the vehicle blocking the
lane and it was towed from the
lane.
On, Sept. 17, a 22 -year-old
Lucknow man .was charged with
having liquor outside a residence,
after being stopped in Lucknow for
a vehicle check at 11:55 p.m.
A building ata Highway 21 rec-
reation park was broken into on
Sept. 18 where about $12 worth of
gas was stolen. Approximately$200
worth of quarters were also taken
after a video game was pried open.
A 28 -year-old Wingham man was
charged with driving with more
than 80 mg of alcohol in his system
after being stopped in a RIDE
(Reduce Impaired Driving. Every-
where) check in Ripley on Sept. 18.
