Wednesday, September .15, 1993 Attend 80th in 'Stratford Mildred McClenaghan and John McKinnon attended the • 80th birthday party for Fern Pollock, of Stratford, at the Festival Inn, Strat- ford, on Sunday. Wayne Farrier, of Guelph, visited his mother, Agnes, a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milligan, and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Falconer of Goderich attended the Ladner family reunion at the home of Danie and Debbie Dyment's in Milton on Saturday. Whitechurch UCW The Whitechurch United Church Women met Sept. 1 at the home of Mrs. Elwood Groskorth in Goderich. The topic was World Outreach with Alice Moore, Hazel Laidlaw and Margaret Sleightholm as leaders. The call to worship was based on Missions into the 20th century. Mrs. ,Sleightholm led in prayer and gave a reading, Changes of the World in Our Time. Mrs. Laidlaw read the scriptures., Mrs. Moore read a litany. Nine ladies attended the meeting. The Oct. 5• meeting will be at Mildred McClenaghan's home. Whitee'hurch WI The Whitechurch Women's Institute met Sept, 8 at the home of Russel and Jean McGuire in Lis- towel. Marjorie Wall presided and opened' in the usual way. This was the International Affairs meeting with ' Mrs. McGuire as convener. Mrs. Wall read the 10 com- mandments of good human relations on how to get along with people. A moment of silence was held in memory of Merle Wilson who was a dedicated member. , Rollcall was a current event from any, country in the world. Mae Johnston gave the motto - • WHITECHURCH by ./Pin F7nsc red, yellow, black, white, all are precious in his sight. The McGuires favored everyone with s me violin and auto harp selecti s. Mrs. McGuire introduced the guest speaker Marcie Johnston, a life member of Associate Country Women of the World. She told of the 63 different projects in 28 places in the world. Plans were made for the October meting. Everyo e, is to bring a quilt. Helen Currie will be convener for the quilts and Mary Hehn for the lunch. 4-H NEWS For the Love of Horses On Aug. 27, members of For the Love of Horses 4-H club met at the farm of Merlene Bergman, for an informal meeting. Different ways to prepare their animals for achievement were shown, as well as the property method of presentation. Numerous questions were answered by the leaders. All mem- bers are anxiously awaiting achievement day Sept. 19. Safety Civilians On Sept. 11, 14 members of Safety Civilians gathered for their first meeting. The executive for the club includes Janet Cox, president; Joey Leeman, vice; Rachel -McQuail, secretary; Andrea Congram, press reporter, and Michelle Congram, telephone convener. Members became acquainted with each other and started the first project - Safety First In and Around the Home, and Looking Out for #1. A.J. Wilson is about' to deliver the bowl during the Lucknow Lawn Bowling's annual Labour Day Tournament, while Frank MacKenzie appears deep In thought as he contemplates the situation at the other end. Three game winners were Gond Roger, Stratford; Harry Lustig, Chesley; Lee Ryan, Goderich, and Larry Chaput, Kitchener.
