Ac -Anderson 1916 - 1993 Dorothy Annabel (Curran) Ander- son, nder son, of Lucknow, the last surviving- member urviving member of her immediate family, died at the Wingham and District Hospital, on Aug. 27, 1993, in her 78th year. The daughter • of the late Herbert and Mary (Saunders) Curran was born on May 19, 1916, in Ashfield Township. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son Andy, and . his wife Bonnie Anderson, of Stratford, and one granddaughter Altana Anderson. She was predeceased by her hus- band Thomas. -Anderson, in 1976, 0BITUARIES three brothers, Jack, Jim and Bertram Curran, and a sister Alma Hunter. The funeral was conducted at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home on Aug. 29 with Rev. A. Cook officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Alexander, . Jim Anderson, Trevor Hunter, Bill Anderson, Stewart Curran and Bev Curran. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. William C 1900 William Cecil Congram; of Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow (formerly of Kinloss Township), died at Pinecrest on Aug. 20, 1993 in his 94th year. A retired farmer, Mr. Congram was born in Kinloss Township on Au'g. 5, 1900. He was a son of the late William and Mary Anne (Scott) Congram. Mr. Congram was the last mem- ber -of his family and leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Lesley Congram, and two sisters, . Congram -.1993 Myrtle Lane and Phoebe Campbell. The funeral was conducted at the MacKenzie 'and McCreath Funeral Home on Aug. 22, with Rev. Peggy Kinsman and Rev. J. Congram of- ficiating. Flower bearers were Mac Campbell, Campbell Brown and Kenneth Ernest. Pallbearers were Ronald ,Campbell, Jack Campbell, Jim Campbell, Everett Lane, John Lane and Stewart Lane. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Black and girls were her. mother, Betty .Jeffries and friend of London. ' Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bennett of London' have been spending a few holidays at their summer home here. Mr. and Mrs. Ron McGuire, Chris and Scott enjoyed the Reeves family reunion held in Mildmay recently. ' Mr. and Mrs. Allen Lamon spent a weeks holidays with their families in Chesley recently. Wednesday, September 1, 1993 — Page 9 Royal hosts public speaking contest All young people in Canada bet- ween the ages of 16 and 24 are invited to participate in a public speaking competition at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. This year the first prize winner will receive $700 cash and the opportunity to spend a day touring various sections of . the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and, Food (OMAF). The next five runners-up will also receive cash prizes. The competition is co-sponsored by the Farm Credit Corporation and OMAF and will take place at the Royal Agricultural. Winter Fair on Saturday, Nov. 13. Contestants will give a timed five - to seven -minute speech in either of Canada's official languages on one of four suggested topics. The topics include: Canadian Food Production -- Dispelling the Myths; Canadian Agriculture -- Sharing Our Success, with the World; Celebrating 65 Years -- The Royal Agriculttiral Winter Fair; Food, Science, And You. The competition will be limited to the first 25 entries received. Official rules and application forms are available at any office of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food or Farm Credit Cor- poration. Deadline for applications is Oct. 1.
