Whytocks of N.B. home for visit
Rev. and Mrs. Jack Whytock and
family from Monkton, N.B. arrived
home on Sunday for two weeks
holidays at Kincardine and with his
parents, Carmen and Jean Whytock.
Karen Edwards and daughter
Courtney, of Cochrane, Alberta, a
niece of George and Betty
Armstrong, visited there on Mon-
day. Nellie Brock of Londes-
borough visited also.
Irene Farrier of Wingham was a
Wednesday visitor with Agnes
Farrier.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Simpson, Mr.
and Mrs. Archie Purdon attended
the Highland Games in Fergus on
Friday. The men took part in the
mass bands.
Agnes Farrier and Jean Ross
attended a shower on Sunday in
Listowel for Lori Schwichtenberg
of Pon Elgin. Lori is the daughter
of Wib and Marjorie Schwichten-

berg (Coultes). Lori and her hus-
band will be returning to New
Zealand after the wedding. They
arrived home the day before the
shower from Australia. The shower
was held at the home of Alex and
Dianne Craig.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and
Karen attended the games in Fergus
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parry and
family, of Bright, were visitors on
Thursday with her parents, George
and Betty Armstrong.
Chalmers WMS
Chalmers Women's Missionary
Society held their Aug. 18 meeting
in the church basement.
Norma Rintoul and Dora Neilson
were the leaders.
Norma opened with a poem,
followed with a scripture by Dora.
She gave the meditation "some
things must be watered."
Vera Falconer and Mildred Pur -
don gave readings. Norma gave the
topic "Harvest."
Rollcall was answered by eight
with a harvest hymn.
Kathleen Elliott presided for the
business. The fall rally is Sept. 15
at Kincardine.
Mildred reported on the visiting
committee. The new committee is
Mary Simpson and Jean Ross.
The fall thankoffering will be
held at the Whitechurch WMS on
Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
There will be no regular meeting
in September. The next meeting is
Nov. 17 at Mildred Purdon's.
Area folks attend Espanola wedding
Mrs. Gilbert Hamilton, Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Hamilton, Betty Hamil-
ton and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barr
attended the wedding at Es fianola of
their cousin, Keith Hamilton to
Brenda Masson of the staff of the
Bank of Montreal, Lucknow.
April and Jeffrey Van de Klippe
spent a few days with their
grandmother, Joan Barr, at Betty
Hamilton's in St. Catharines. They,.
enjoyed a day at the African Safari.
Jean Phillips of Fonthill is visiting
with her sister Bessie Maulden. She
taught at Langside School a number
of years ago and attended the
reunion which was held at Win-
gham.
Melinda Donnan returned home
from Brantford where she attended
the Circle Square Ranch last week.
We extend sympathy to the
relatives of the late Cecil Congram
who passed away at Pinecrest
Manor, Lucknow, He was a Kinloss
Township resident, west of
Holyrood on Con. 8.

Presbyterian WMS
The Kinlough Presbyterian WMS
met at the church for the August
meeting with Isabel Thompsott
presiding. She opened with a poem
God's Hilltops, followed by prayer
and a hymn.
The purpose was recited the
minutes read and business con-
ducted.
Eleven members answered the
rollcall with something I read from
a church paper or magazine.
Betty Bushell and Bessie Mat Iden
gave the devotions which were
prepared by Mabel McEwan.
Lorena Mae MacGregor
1903 - 1993
Lorena Mae MacGregor, of Peter-
borough, died on Aug. 16, 1993, in
her 90th year.
Born near Madoc, Ontario, on
Nov. 24, 1903, the former Lorena
Mae Bailey, moved with parents to
Halkirk, Alberta in 1909. It was
here that she married the late
Frederick MacGregor in 1927 and
returned with him to Ontario to live
in the Kintail area, until they sold
their farm (the Alex MacGregor
homestead) in 1960.
They retired to Kincardine at this
time, then in 1966 moved to
Goderich. After her husband's death
in 1970, Mrs. MacGregor moved to
Peterborough to live with her

brother George. This is just 50
miles from where she was born.
She is survived by one sister
Marguerite (Mrs William
MacGregor) of Linden, Alberta, two
brothers George and Gordon and
his wife Kathleen of Peterborough,
and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was con-
ducted by Rev. Donald Nicholson at
the Comatock Funeral Home, Peter-
borough, on Aug.. 19. Cremation to
follow with interment to take place
at a later date in the Kintail
Cemetery.
LUCKNOW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Barbara Bushell led the study on
faith. Scriptures were taken from
James and Hebrews and Rachael
Bushell read a scripture from Ruth.
The story of blind Bartimeus was
read by Barbara Bushell.
Members worked in pairs on
heroes of faith in the Bible.
The closing hymn was My Faith
Looks up to Thee. The Grace was
sung and the hostess Lorraine Mac-
Pherson served refreshments.
