Lucknow vs Kincardine
On Aug. 2, Lucknow travelled to
Kincardine to play the Mosquito A
Team. The game ' featured good
pitching and defence over the seven
innings, with Kincardine winning 6
to 5.
Lucknow's pitching staff of Justin
Brown, Kiel Farrish and Mark
Stanley gave up eight walks, five
hits, and struck out .10. Kincardine's
offence scored four in the fourth,
one in the fifth. and collected the
win when they scored one in the
bottom of the seventh with one out.
Kincardine pitchers gave up seven
hits, walked three and struck out
four. Lucknow's offence scored one
in the first, second; third, fourth and
seventh innings for their five runs.
Kincardine's. pitching was helped
out with some fine defence by their
third baseman.
In the past two games, both los-
ses, walks have been costly to the
team. Eight walks against Kincar-
dine resulted in four runs and
against Goderich 15 walks resulted
in seven runs.
Exhibition game
Lucknow lost to Ripley in an
exhibition game on Aug:.4 with an
11 to 8. score.
As in the past two losses, walks
again cost the team, with the
pitchers giving up 10 walks, six of
which eventually scored,
Lucknow's offence scored two in
the first, two in the second, three in
the fourth and onein the seventh.
Lucknow batters had the oppor-
tunity
to drive in runs, however, the
runners were 'left stranded.
A good defensive play by Ripley
centre fielder, Blair Savage, on a
well hit ball by Dennis Andrew for
the final out in the sixth left the
bases loaded. Again in the seventh,
Lucknow left two men on when
Ripley's defence shut the door for
any comeback by the home team.
