Lip sync contest another smashing success
Lucknow's 3rd annual Lip Sync
and Air Band 'Competition was a
huge success last Friday evening.
Sponsored by the Lucknow
Chamber of Commerce, the com-
petition saw five area teen groups
and three business groups compete
in front of a very enthusiastic
crowd, that continues to grow each
year.
Starting off the evening's enter-
tainment was The Comets, consis-
ting of pool staff Shauna Andrew,
Vanessa Alton, Tanya Sutherland,
Sharon Askes, Joy Becker and Lori
Exel, who made a grand entrance in
a red convertible.
Steven Spanswick followed! with
Katie Hackett, Karen Spanswick, Sherry
Hodges, Donna. Sue Errington
his superb rendition of Al Jolson's
"Hello Dolly".
The Monster Mash group
included Tiffany and Lola Bridges,
Heather Pegg, Josh, Joey and Justin
Leeman. This group's attire and
props showed a lot of effort and
thinking had gone into its produc-
tion.
Next on the list were four young
area men, Doug Helm, Lyndon
Johnston, Dennis Johnston and
Ryan Greig, who had the audience
crying tears of laughter with their
performance of "Hello Again Mar-
garet". .
Jordan Andrew and J.J.
Humphrey's humorous performance
to "Love is Strange" wound up the
teen entertainment.
Coming in first, second and third
places respectively were; Doug
Helm and friends; The Comets, and
Jordan and J.J.
The judges were so impressed
with all the groups, the Chamber of
Commerce added a little money to
the pot so everyone took home
Ben Hogervorst, Irene Dickie; Shirley Colwell
something.
Leading off the business com-
munity's entries were Ruth Alton
and Evelyn Hackett from Your
• Favourite Things. They chose "A
Guy- is a Guy" to perform to. Ruth
played the young lady being pur-
sued by a Lothario-type young 'man .
in the person .of Evelyn.
Next on the list was a com-
bination of Irene Dickie and Shirley
Colwell, of From Our Hearts, and
Ben Hogervorst of Lucknow Farm
Supply. Ben 'was the mailman in
their rendition of "Please, Mr.
Postman." Although the lady in
question received no love mail, the
mailman was pulling some rather
questionable . articles out of his
mailbag!
The Valley Green Girls - Donna
Sue Errington, Katie Hackett, Karen
Spanswick, and Sherry Hodges -
put their heart and soul into "The
Leader of the Pack" and once again
took home the coveted Chamber of
Commerce trophy.
