The Lucknow Sentinel, 1993-08-04, Page 7Fiddlers Jamboree: bigger and better
The 5th annual Point Clark Old
Tytne Fiddlers Jamboree in Luck -
now last Sunday broke- records
again. Ben Hanson, one of the
organizers, said there were 933
people in attendance and 75 per-
formers.
From an idea discussed by four
avid lovers of fiddle music, the
Jamboree has mushroomed every
year to its largest in 1993. The first
two years were held outdoors in
Point Clark, but the worry of
• inclement weather forced the group
to re -locate to Lucknow and they
have never looked back. Mrs. Han-
son attributes the hospitality ' of
Lucknowites as one of the reasons
behind the Jamboree's success.
The•oldest performers were Luck -
now's Evan McQuillin and Irene
Emmertori of Ripley. The youngest
performers included Lucille Scott,
of Etobicokeland Robert Sloan of
Chesley.
Mrs. Hanson said they're already
talking about next year's Jamboree,
so if you didn't make it out to 93's
book next year for a fun -filled
afternoon of old tyre music and
dancing.
