Visitors recently with Jessie Johnston were Margaret Dickson of Bemidji, Minnesota and Margaret Dickson of Kincardine. Also visiting were Duncan and Necia Black of Buffalo, N.Y. Chris and Nicole Willits vacationed last week in Listowel with their aunt and uncle, Debbie and Bob Loree, and cousins Jimmy, Jeff and Matt. Darrell, Gaye, Lindsay and Stacey Lome of Justice, Manitoba, spent nearly a week with his cousin Wayne and Carol Atkinson. Also staying at the same home, part time of the Loree Reunion, were Blair and Betty Loree also of Manitoba. Austin and Mildred Loree visited Thursday in Chesley with her sisters Marion Reid and Irene McAllister. They also called on Neil McAllister, a patient in the Chesley Hospital. John and Janet Johnstone, of Ajax, are holidaying with his parents, Gordon and Bernice Johnstone. Damien Martin Student of the week Damien Martin is a studentwho lives in the village of Port Albert. Damien has just completed his final year of high school at Goderich District Collegiate Institute. Damien is presently searching for summer employment to prepare himself for his ltrst_year of science at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo. This summer, Damien would like employment in the areas of construction, landscaping and farm work -- all of these areas are a large part of his past work ex- perience. Although Damien would prefer work in these areas, he would gladly accept any other employment opportunities in dif- ferent areas. It is important to note that Damien's services are not limited td the Port Albert area. Damien has accessto a car• and is willing to work anywhere in Huron -Bruce area. As a student, Damien has great potential. Through his experience, Damien offers many talents that could be utilized by any employer. Damien served his high school as President of the Students' Council. As well, Damien possesses a solid working knowledge of the French language. Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, July 21, 1993 — Page 9 45th annual Hackett Picnic held at Ashfield Park The 45th Hackett Picnic was held on July 11, 1993, at Ashfield Park, 12:30 p.m., with 32 in attendance. J.C. Drennan . and Lorne Hackett attended with their barbecues . The Sandy and Janet Hackett branch of the family were in charge of the picnic. Lorne Hackett was master of ceremonies. Lorne welcomed everyone and we sang grace lead by Mrs. Helen Lindsay. During the business portion a moment of silence was observed for those who passed away, followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. Each branch of the family tree present introduced their family. The minutes and treasurer's report of 1992 were read and adopted. Lome thanked J.C. Drennan for his barbecue; Chester and Bell Hackett - lunch committee; Scott Hackett - sports committee; and Helen Lindsay for singing leadership. We will hold the picnic next year on the second Sunday in July at Ashfield Park, 12:30 p.m., with Harry Hackett's family responsible for the day. Mrs. Allen Bradley will look after- the flower arran- gement to be replaced in the graves of Joseph Hackett and- Eliza Jane Henry. A sing song led by Helen Lindsay was enjoyed by everyone. The birthday closest to Sandy Hackett was Lorraine Stewart; the birthday closest to Janet Hunter was Evelyn Hackett (same day); the anniversary closest to Sandy and Ianets' was Vernon and Anna Mae Hunter. The person bringing the largest car load of people to the picnic was Eldon Bradley; the youngest person present was Peter Hackett; the oldest person present was Midford Wall. Tile person signing 11th on the register was Alvin Hackett; the person signing 15th on the register was Anna Mae Hunter. The indoor portion of the program concluded by Helen Lindsay sin- ging the "Irish Blessing." Results of the outdoor games: Kick the Shoe: Mac and Brian Hackett (tied);II Chester Hackett and Ken Laidlaw (tied). Kick the Shoe: Fran Hackett, Elleda Laidlaw, Hazel Hackett, Evelyn Hackett. Three legged race: Mac and Peter Hackett; Sherry McCracken and Alvin Hack- ett; Hazel and Scott Hackett; Brian and Fran Hackett; Chester Hackett and Anna Mae Hunter; D.A. Hack - St. Helen's W. the date of its St. Helen's W.I. met at the hall on July 14 with President Caroline Menary presiding. The roll call "Name your favorite vegetable and how you prepare it" was answered by. all. The bus trip was discussed and the date changed to Thurs., Aug. 19 leaving the hall at 9 a.m. We are going to see Emus and other exotic birds. We will eat lunch at Bayfield then on to Art Bells for a tour of his fruit farm. We were reminded of the articles each was to obtain for the Group display at the fair. These can be left ett and Helen Lindsay. Running Race: Peter Hackett, Mac Hackett and Scott Hackett. A water balloon relay was enjoyed by two teams on a hot humid day. The games closed with a candy scramble. I. changes bus trip at Muriel Moffats. Edith Cooper gave an interesting reading on Trans Canada pipelines and hydro electric generators for Isobel Gaunt. Caroline Menary read a humorous reading "I remember when wash tubs were made to last." Jokes were told by people whose initials started with A., C. and D. We closed the meeting with the Queen, and Institute Grace was. sung with Florence McConnell playing the piano. A delicious lunch was served by Caroline Menary and Helen Todd.
