HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1993-07-07, Page 6Page 6 — Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, July 7, 1993 OPP investigate missing cash . from Pine River Cheese A 61 -year-old Kincardine man was taken to Kincardine and Dis- trict General Hospital with minor injuries after a motorcycle accident on July 2 at 8:15 p.m. The man had been travelling on Lorne Beach Road in Kincardine Township when he entered a curve and drove onto the left west shoul- der, causing him to lose control. The bike was overturned. There were no charges. On July 3, a 16 -year-old Ripley "youth received minor injuries after his car, travelling east on County Road 6 in Huron Township, left the road. The right wheel had touched the shoulder and the driver lost control of the car, crashing into some trees along the south ditch. Two young offenders from Tiverton have beencharged with/ mischief after trying to hot wire a car on June 27. The two were chased off at 4:30 a.m. after being discovered attempting to start the car. After an OPP investigation, a 15 -year-old and a 17 -year-old were arrested. The 15 -year-old was also charged with theft under $1,000 after a car stereo and equalizer worth $450 were stolen from a car in Tiverton between June 26 and June 27. During the investigations, a 15 - year -old. Kincardine Township ,youth was charged with theft after a cassette stereo was stolen from a car in Tiverton. A 19 -year-old Port Elgin man was charged with uttering threats and breach of an undertaking after a women reported receiving threaten- ing phone calls on June 29. A 37 -year-old Owen Sound man was also charged with uttering threats after a Bruce Township woman called OPP telling them her ex-boyfriend was making threaten- ing calls. NO PICTURES, PLEASE! 1 During an investigation of two break- and enters from a Bruce Beach cottage, a 16 -year-old young offender from RR2 Ripley was charged with the break and enter. Several bottles of liquor had been taken from the cottage and a num- ber of them were recovered after police executed a search warrant. In addition, three marijuana plants were found and the youth was charged with possession of a nar- cotic. On July 4, a vehicle was stopped on Highway 21 in Kincardine Township and the driver was found to have been drinking. As a result, the 18 -year-old Huron Township man was charged with being under 19 and consuming liquor, tailing to- drive in a marked lane and having improper licence plats. He was also given a 12 -hour stpension. At 3:40 p.m. on July 4, OPP checked a vehicle in Inverhuron Provincial Park. As a result, a 34 - year -old Toronto man was charged with having an open container of liquor. The liquor was seized. On July 4 a large amount of cash was discovered missing from the safe at Pine River Cheese Factory. At the end of a shift, a clerk took the receipts to the safe and dis- covered cash and cheques were missing. OPP are not yet releasing the amount. Campsite Experience held at Camp Bimini The Huron -Perth Presbyterial United Church Women held their annual Campsite Experience at the United Church Camp -Bimini in June. Sixty women attended. The theme "We gather Together", was carried out in the worship service with the singing of the hymn. "We Gather Together to ask the Lord's Blessing" led by Barbara Richardson and Eloise Hagerman, St. Marys. Helen McKnight, Listowel, con- ducted a sing -song, Mrs. Anne Irvin at the piano. The women were welcomed by Betty Graber, Presbyterial president. Shirley Hackett, Stratford, was the leader for gentle exercises outdoors, and also arranged a scavenger hunt around the camp. This gave all those participating an opportunity to explore the grounds —of Camp Bimini. Kate Cunningham„Stratford, gave an interesting "day by day" account of her experiences as a camper. Reta Stan4eavon spoke of her experiences camping, in the early days of Camp Bimini. Jean Wilson, Listowel, led in Bible study. Her topic was "Women who changed their World". Kathryn Wreford, Stratford, led in closing Worship, assisted by Nancy Corrigan, Bluevale, and Margaret Dingman, Stratford (pianist). Mrs. Wreford led in the singing of the Benediction. Babysitters were Noreen Fleis- chauer, Mary Smith, and Kate Cunningham, Stratford. Marian Wreford, Stratford, and Mrs. Jean Wilson, Listowel, were conveners for the event.
