Mabel May Stewart ,
1916 - 1993 •
Mabel May Stewart passed away
suddenly as the result of a heart
attack on Sunday, June 13, 1993 in
Kincardine and District General
Hospital. •
She was born in Kalamazoo,
Michigan on Feb. 6, 1916 to
Elizabeth and Orrin Russel.
She married Lawrence Stewart on
December 11, 1935 and lived most
of her life on the South Line of
Kincardine township.
Born to them were three
daughters and four sons - Lila, Mrs.
Anco Guikema; June, Mrs. Robert
Gilchrist; William, his wife Carol;
Delbert (deceased 1992); Bernice,
Mrs. Gordon Campbell; Raymond,
his wife Sharon; and David, his
wife Phyllis. Mrs. Stewart's hus-
band passed away on March 11,
19.76, and when David married she
moved to Huron Villa, Ripley.
She was a devoted member of the
Pentecostal Church and her family
and friends were important to her.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by her
three sons and four daughters, as
well as her three sisters. - ' Irene
McLeish, and Evelyn Lindsay of
Los 'Angeles, and Mary Bracken of
Oregon; also 25 grandchildren and
13 great-grandchildren.
Predeceasing her were her hus-
band, Lawrence, a son Delbert and
three grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were made
by the Davey - Linklater Funeral
Home where she rested until time
of service.
Pastor Tom Quinn assisted by
Pastor Stephen Brown conducted
the service from the Kincardine
Pentecostal Church on Wednesday,
June 16 at 2 p.m, Her grandson,
Dale Gilchrist, was organist and
Kathy Brown.sanatbeautiful med-
ley of her favorite hymns.
Pallbearers were her grandsons,
David McKay, Grant and Dan
Gilchrist, Ben Stewart, Jack
Campbell, Michael Stewart, and
Brian Stewart.
Flower bearers were Barry
Stewart, Darryl Campbell, Stephen
and Kathleen Stewart. She was laid
to rest in the family plot in Kincar-
dine Cemetery. '
Memorial donations were made to
the Pentecostal Church, the Heart
and Stroke Fund and Gideon Bible
Society.
Edith V.Reid '
1929 - 1993
Edith Vyetta (Vi) Reid, of 281
Kincardine Avenue, Kincardine,
died at the Kincardine and District
Hospital, on May 31, 1993, fol-
lowing a courageous battle with
cancer. She was 64 years old.
Mrs. Reid worked at the Kincar-
dine and District Hospital for 12
years, retiring in 1986. She was a
member of the Knox Presbyterian
Church.
Born in Lucknow on Apr. 15,
1929, Mrs. Reid was the daughter
of the late George and Edith
(Campbell) Phillips of R.R. 2,
Lucknow.
She is survived by her husband
Irving Reid, who she married on
Apr. 30, 1949 in Whitechurch.
Mrs. Reid was a devoted mother
to Terry and his wife Marlene,
Kevin and his wife Sandra, all of
Kincardine.
She is survived by brothers and
sisters Leonard Phillips of Win-
gham, Russell Phillips of West
Wawanosh, Isabel Young of Dun-
gannon and Rozella McDonald of
R.R. 2, Lucknow,
Mrs. Reid was a dedicated "Gra-
mma" to Nick and Troy Reid and
Victoria Reid.
She was predeceased by a brother
Albert Phillips.
The funeral was held at the
Davey-Linklater Funeral Home on
June 2, with Rev. Allan Paisley and
Peter Zimmerman officiating.. A
group of friends and relatives sang
Leave It All To Jesus.
Flower bearers were nephews
Fred Phillips, Gary. Mair, George
Young and Wayne Reid.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Foran,
Bill McDonald, Jack Helm, Donny
Reid, Jerry Reid, John Phillips,
nephews.
Interment Kincardine Cemetery.
Alexander Sutherland McAuley
1900 - 1993
Alexander Sutherland McAuley,
of Queen Street, Ripley, died at his
residence on Sunday,. ' June 13,
1993, in his 94th year. He was a
retired Huron Township farmer,
who worked for Gold and Glow
Egg Distribution Co. after his
retirement. Mr. McAuley was a
member of the Ripley • United
Church.
Born on Mar. 23, 1900, in Huron
Township, he was a son of the late
Archie and Christina (McLennan)

McAuley. Mr. McAuley was the
last surviving member of a family
of nine:
He is survived by his wife of 62
years, the former Muriel Thompson
of Ripley. They were married in the
Ripley United Church Manse.
Mr. McAuley he also leaves to
mourn„ his, passing nieces and
nephews Cameron McAuley of
Ripley, Sara Ritchie of Lucknow,
Lloyd McAuley of Brampton, Jean
Anderson of Toronto, and Angus
McAuley, Jr., of California, USA;
as well as several great nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his
parents, and eight brothers and
sisters: Katherine, Frank, Allan,
John Sutherland, Angus, Margaret,
and Ann.
Rev. V. Wilke and Rev. H.
Nugent conducted the funeral at the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home, Ripley, on June 15 at 3 p.m.
Flower bearers were Joanne
Wilkins, Jeanne Van Dam, Jeanette
O'Neil, Betty Jones and Sharon
Stein.
Pallbearers were John Dadson,
Lee Dadson, Harvey Brooks,
Reuben Burnett, Doug Liddle and
John McAuley,
Interment Ripley Cemetery.
Rev. Gwen Brown was inducted as director of Camp KIntall and
Synod Hamilton youth consultant at a special ceremony held at
Goderich's Knox Presbyterian Church last week. She is the first
ordained person called to. such a position.
