Mrs. Cameron's Kindergarten A class is practicing for graduation, which is on Thursday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. and eyeryone is welcome. Students are also working on Fall Fair activities to be judged, and Father's Pay activities, Mrs. McMillen's Kindergarten B class is learning all about frogs. They have teamed songs and verses and have even made their own. books "Five Little Speckled Frogs." They hope that their graduation is successful and fun. Mrs. Hodsman.'s Grade 1 class has been comparing ducks and chickens by having a visit from both. They are also working hard as authors of their own books. We can't wait to read them! Miss Anguish's and Miss 4-H NEWS Practice judging The 4th meeting of the Lucknow Beef Club was held at the home of Keith Todd on June 10, 7:30 p.m. At the meeting . the members judged yearling breeding ewes, in preparation for an upcoming judging competition. They also discussed different feed storing and equipment. The next meeting is July 9, 7:30 p.m., at Kevin Rintoul's home. 0BITUARY Muriel Aileen Hedley 1910 - 1993 . Muriel Aileen Hedley, of London, formerly of St. Mary's and Kinloss Township died at the University Hospital, London, on June 13, 1993, in her 83rd year. She•was a member of the Empress United Church, London, • Born on July 17, 1910, in Huron Township, Bruce County, the former Muriel Hodginswas a daughter of the late Lome and Ethel (Smith) Hodgins. Mrs. Hedley is survived by her children Jacqualeen and husband Goldwin Emerson, •of London; Al and wife Margaret Hedley, of Kin- cardine; David and wife Gloria Hedley, of Belgrave, and Marjory and husband Dr. Garry Krikorian, of Guelph. She also leaves to mourn her passing a sister Elizabeth and her Robert's Grade 1/2 are winding down the year with a unit on North American Indians and had a "pow wow" . celebrating native games, sign language, dance and food. They have also created two wonder- ful big books in tate Library called "Many Moons Ago..." They fol- lowed up their discussions of the environment and endangered species with a trip through the wilds of the Toronto Metro Zoo with Mrs. Baker's and Miss Wise's classes. Miss Wise and Mrs. Baker's classes are going to walk the Tiger Dunlop trail at Goderich and play at the town beach. They are also going to do an exciting pirate unit with treasure hunts and maps. Junior News Mr. Lobb's class has been working on Fall Fair activities and poetry. In Environmental Studies they have been working on a unit about insects, and in math they have been solving problems. Grade Ss, as the Brookside Tourist Agency, are preparing husband, Ken McLeod, of Windsor; a brother Ellison and his wife Lauretta Hodgins, of Kinloss Township; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. , Mrs. Hedley was predeceased by her husband E.J. (Jack) Hedley in. 1970, a sister Helen in infancy, a daughter-in-law Fern Hedley in 1966, a grandson Kevin Emerson in 1978, her brother Jack Hodgins in 1987 and a sister Lorna Massia in 1992. Visitation. was at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Luck- . now, where the service was held on June 15 with Rev. Glen Strome of the Empress United Church, Lon- don, officiating. Flower bearers were John and Christopher Krikorian and Genny Krikorian. Pallbearers were Dennis Hedley, Bruce . Hedley, Blake Emerson, Michael Hart, Donald Scott and Ken Scott. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Donations to the Kinloss United or the Empress United Church, "London, were acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. BROOKSIDE BROADCAST projects of their choice to "sell" a part of Ontario to tourists, after research. Thanks to all the. grown- ups who have listened to them read stories out in the hall, Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 3/4 have been busy working on their novel study. The grade threes read the novel called Burma Bay. The grade fours are reading a novel called Macaroon. They are completing a unit on Newfoundland and enjoying some centre activities as a wrap-up to their unit. Mr. Culp's class is doing a unit on stamps. Mrs. Worsell's Grade 6 class is working on a Biography Unit in language arts. Each person is writing an autobiography add a biography of a staff member. They have completed language and math tests recently, and are working hard to finish the rest of their curriculum - in the short time that's left. Grade 6 students in Mrs. Dozois' class have finished their reports on a part of the universe, and .are now creating their "space creatures" to live in that part. Beam me up, alien! Intermediate News Mr. Hazlitt's Grade 8 class is busy working on subtracting in- tegers in math and in science they are working on friction. They have also been working on a series of seven centres which teach about famous women in Canada's history. Miss Morton's class has been completing novel studies and story writing assignments. Classes are also beginning to gather materials for Lucknow Fall Fair entries. 'All the Grade eight students are getting very excited about graduation! Special Events This month has been very busy for the students of Brookside. The Grade .eights have been working on their graduation scheduled for June 23 and end of term tests. The Grade sevens came home from their Quebec and Ottawa trip last Friday night. , They had a wonderful trip! The 2 -pitch teams have been chosen and the tournament will be on June 17 at Holmesville Public School. The library trip will take place on June 18. They will see the musical play "Oliver" and visit the water treatment plant in Grand Bend. We would like to wish Mrs. Maclntyre and Miss Morton best. wishes from everyone at Brookside. They will be missed by all of us. To complete our final write-up we would like to thank all of our teachers, volunteers, bus drivers, and all the students of Brookside School for a great year. Thanks also to the Lucknow Sentinel for their support and help through the year. We're very .lucky to have a "hometown newspaper that is so willing to share school news 9Tith the community.
