Employees rewarded

mittee and plant employees for
achieving 60,000 hours of ac-
cident free work.
Employees were rewarded for
-their record for no lost -time
accidents on Mon„ June 7 with
a beef bbq catered by Jeff and
Cathy Cardiff of Brussels. The
employees were also wished
good luck toward reaching the
next goal of 100,000 accident
free hours.

Ripley library reduces summer hours

served a tasty breakfast.
The president, Donalda McLean,
welcomed the members then opened
the meeting with the ode and col-
lect. .
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved.
Eleven members answered the roll
call, "What I would do if I were in
Council" and many ideas were
brought forth,
The correspondence was read. It
was decided to send $25 to Partici-
pation Lodge.. The final plans for
the Hospital. Tea, June 16' were
discussed.
Mary Brooks gave a report of the
District .Annual.
The P.R. Officer, Sadie MacLeod,
had the program. She opened with
a few words on laughter. "A good
laugh is good for our health." "And
they say we use many -muscles in
our face when we ,laugh, thus pre-
venting wrinkles." She had a couple
. of readings and jokes. Annie Scott
read a poem on the plowing Match
composed by Marion MacCharles,
followed by a couple of contests.

hers a good summer and hope, to
see everyone in September. The
meeting closed with "God Save the
Queen.
The Ripley Women's Institute
Annual Hospital Tea and Bake sale
will be held in the Legion Hall on
,June 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m, All
proceeds will be used .for the hospi-
tal.
Library report
It was reported at the June
Friends of the Library meeting due
to" financial restraints and changed
open hours, the summer film pro-
gram and children's reading club
will not be held this summer.

The library will be continuing the
book service to Huron Villa during
the summer months. They welcome
your suggestions as to which type
of books you would like included in
the selection.
There is a bulletin board display
on the back wall of the library
highlighting the Ripley Horticultural
.Group's new history book entitled,
"Ripley, Huron's Hub 1875-1992."
The hard cover book will contain
about 350 pages and include
approximately 900 pictures. Tenta-
five date for . publication of the
limited edition is Easter 1994.
Copies can be reserved and
people can assist in the financing of
this project by picking up •an order
form at the library.. •

Dickinson and Joanne Wilkins for
the display of crocheted doll gowns
'which have adorned the shelves for
the recent month.
Poor Man's Lunch
The "Alberta Bound" Scouts are
sponsoring another "Poor Man's
• Lunch" at the Ripley Legion Hall
on Sunday, June 20 from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. The meal• includes soup,
sandwich and beverage. Desert is.

was Rev. Ivan Damborwitz,
Minister of Belmore and Bluevale,
basing his remarks on how Seniors
can best relate ' to young people.
This was the theme of the meeting.
A report on the 1992 USCO
Convention in Windsor was given
by Mildred Dickson who was a
delegate. The 1993 Convention will
be held in Sault St. Marie, August
10-11.
