Ivan Dambrowitz of Belwore and Bluevale Presbyterian churches as guest Minister. The Minister of the church is Rev. Stephen Lindsay. Joan Barr was organist and Jo Reid was pianist. In the morning the choir sang "Be Not Afraid" and in the evening "Whispers of Jesus." Doug Blackwell and Steve Gaunt sang in the morning and the Pine River trio Glen Boyd, Bob Rutledge and Lynn Lowry accompanied by Gail Lowry were the special guests in the evening. Following the service a social hour was held. During the service in the evening new offering plates and chair coverings were dedicated. On Tuesday evening a bridal shower was held for Michele Hodgins at the Fellowship room of the Pentecostal church. Barbara Breckles was in charge. Penni Hal- denby placed the bride's corsage, the attendants took their places and a short program followed. The decorations were streamers, wedding belts and balloons. Anne McDonald gave a humorous reading and all worked on two contests. Michele's sister Tammara .Hodgins read the verses on the cards and Joan Barr and Volaine Hodgins assisted with the opening of .the gifts which were brought in by Vanessa Breckles and placed by Delores Cross and other helpers. Jeannette Fair and Susan Van de Klippe designed an article of clothing with the bows which was colorful and nicely modelled by the bride which got a hearty, applause. Michelle expressed her thanks to all and invited the ladies to an Open House at their home in the afternoon of June 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. Lunch was served and a social time was enjoyed by all present. The Holyrood Women's Institute met on Thursday at the hall for a noon day pot luck luncheon. Vice- president Myrtle Percy presided and after the opening grace was sung. All enjoyed a delicious dinner. Afterwards Betty Smith read the minutes and thefinancial report. The roil call was "tell a joke." A letter was read from the Children's Hospital at London. Bessie Maulden gave a full report of the Bruce South District meeting which was hosted by the Bervie Institute and was held in the Anglican parish hall at Kincardine. Delegates from Holyrood were Myrtle Percy, Grace Eckenswiller and Bessie Maulden, The Hospital tea will be held at Ripley on June 16 and the District picnic on June 23. Agnes and Tammara Hodgins were in charge of a fun afternoon which consisted of contests . and games which everyone enjoyed with prizes given for the contests. Joan Murray gave the Courtesies and the meeting closed with 0 Canada. July 1 will be the meeting on Canada: We welcome Pastor and Mrs. Donnan and Melinda to our village: sister Jean Phillips and Connie He 4 the newly appointed Pastor at Linton. the Pentecostal Church. Visitors with Edna and May Boyle during Phe week were Mrs. Jean Hodgins of Wingham, Betty Bushell, Bessie Maulden and her Bill MacPherson, of Holyrood, visited recently with. Mir. Elgee Price and Mr. Gordon James of the nursing home in Wingham. Bruce 4 ounty Board of Education will see many teachers retiring A larger than usual number of teachers will be retiring from the Bruce County Board of Education this year. Trustee Alvin Thompson said as many as 20 to 25 teachers may retire at the end of this month. Plans are underway to recognize those staff members at a special meeting June 29. ,. Among those who will retire is superintendent Don Carroll, who is at present the longest -serving of academic supervisors on .the board. Dungannon card party winners The Dungannon Senior Citizens Card Party on Wednes- day night, June 2, hosted 14 tables.
