HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1993-06-09, Page 7Crime Stoppers Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce are seeking the public's assistance in the investigation of a theft which occurred from a vehicle in Kinloss Township. The Kincardine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police report that during the early morning hours of Feb. 7, 1993, the owner of a 1987 Toyota Tercel put his car in the ditch on Bruce County Road #6. The vehicle was left for a'period of time, and when the owner returned, his hockey equipment had been strewn all over the road and ditch, and several items had been taken. These included a pair of Bauer 100 skates, size 8, an Easton left handed gold colored aluminum shafted hockey stick, and a Miami ball cap. Person(s) responsible for this theft have not been identified as yet, and the value of the stolen property is estimated at several hundred dol- lars. If you can help in this or any other case, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce are • willing to pay a reward up to $1000 for information leading. to an arrest. Ashfield Township will not ammend secondary plan Ashfied Township Council will not consider amending its Township Secondary Plan as requested by township resident Anthony Knoop. Council denied Knoop's request to amend the plan at its Tuesday, June 1 meeting, Knoop, whose house is located on Highway #21, wants to sever the house from the remaining farm parcel but cannot do so under the current secondary plan. On a motion of Councillors Frayne and Fisher, council retired to Committee of the Whole to discuss tax arrears information. After returning froru Committee of the Whole, Councillor Van- Diepenbeek declared a conflict of interest regarding discussions on the proposed Peter VanDiepenbeek development agreement.. -Council discussed and finalized the terms and conditions to be included in the proposed development agreement between the township and Peter and Barbara VanDiepenbeek. Council also discussed James Martin's severance applications and decided to forward the applications to Huron County's Land Division, Committee. Student centre opens its d6ors The Kincardine office of the Canada Employment Centre for Students has opened their doors to both students and employers. Located at 950 Queen Street, the office will be.staffed by two student placement officers, Joan Heimbeck= er and Valerie Percival. Joan, a resident of Clifford, has completed her . Honors Physical Education Degree at Wilfrid Laurier Univer- sity. Valerie lives in Bervie and has completed her Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Peace and Conflict studies at the University of Toronto. The Kincardine office is set to have opening ceremonies June 9 at 3:30 p.m. Members of the com- munity and business organizations are invited to join the ceremonies and to meet the student placement officers and the supervisor, Jeff Dentinger, to discuss summer employment opportunities for students.
