Durnin - Mike and Heather
(Cameron) of R.R. 3, Auburn are
proud to announce the arrival of
their first child, Marshall John, born
on Friday, May 21,'1993, weighing
7 lbs. 12 oz. at St. Joseph's
Hospital, London. Grandparents are
Jim and Jean Cameron of London',
Mike and Betty -Lou Dalton of
Goderich, and the late Donald Dur-
nin. of Auburn. Great-grandparents
are Violet Durnin and the late John
Durnin of Clinton, and Ethel Fisher
and the late Marshall Fisher of R.R..

Shoot winners
The final shoot party of the
season was held at the St. Helen's
W.1. Hall on May 25.
Prize winners were Margaret
Errington with the most shoots (4),
Lois Chamney high lady, Mae
Raynard as high gent, Ada Taylor
as low lady and Jim Errington as
low gent. ;

Lions cash calendar draw were:

Steven Rintoul, son of Neil and

graduated from Centralia College
of Agriculture and Technology on
May 20, 1993 with his diploma in
Agricultural Business

Devastating loss for owners
. What a devastating loss for the
new owners of the Lucknow Feed
Mill that was destroyed by fire on
Friday night. The whole community
is shocked by this catastrophe.
Sympathy is extended to the
family of Art Matthewman of R.R.1
Kincardine who passed away in
Victoria Hospital, London. Funeral
services were Monday from the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home.
The congregation of the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church honored Virdin
Mowbray in the service on Sunday
morning for being an elder for the
past 50 years. He was. presented
with a plaque and his wife Margaret
with a bouquet of red roses. Their
sons John and Gerald and daughters
Sharon Thompson, Marilyn McIn-
tyre, Amelia Murray and Janet
Bannerman along with members of
their families were present for this
occasion.
Special music was supplied by
Sharon Thompson, and Dale and
Marilynne Gilchrist. Following the
service.' everyone enjoyed a
delicious lunch served by the ladies.
Also at the service Sunday mor-
ning new members received were
Mrs. Jamie Irwin by certificate and
Claire Weir by Profession of Faith.
Congratulations to Brad Savage of
Kincardine who was the first place
winner in the midget 800 meter -run
at the OFSAA track and field meet
in Windsor on Saturday. He had
previously won the WOSAA medal.

Brad is the 15 year old son of Don
and Ruth Savage and grandson of
' Gordon and Shirley Brooks.
Visitors for the past two
weekends with Rev. Bill and Peggy
Henderson were their daughters
Margaret of Toronto and Clara who
• is home from Malawi, South Africa.
Members of the Sparks enjoyed
an outing to the Children's Museum
and Storybook Gardens at London
on Saturday. The Guides spent the
weekend camping at McGregor
Point and the Scouts had a trial run
camping at Southampton in
preparation for their trip to Alberta.
Caroline Menary was high lady
during shoot play at the Drop in
Centre on May 21. Theresa
Courtney took low spot, with Andy
Scott and Tom Philips placing high
and low respectively for the men.
Harold Gardner took the most
shoots.
There was a total of six tables of
shoot and one of cribbage in play.
There were eight tables of shoot
in play at the Drop in Centre on
May 28. Andy. Scott and Ruth
Thompson were high players, with
Harold Gardner and Pauline Davis
taking the low spots. Stella Tilbrook
had the most shoots.

Cops participate in torch run
I,aw enforcement personnel from
OPP District 6 and municipal forces
will run .through Lucknow next
Monday in the 7th annual Ontario
Law Enforcement Torch Run.
The officers will be collecting
donations on behalf of Ontario
Special Olympics. Last year they
raised $1,750 in the Luck-
now/Ripley area and they're out to
beat it this year.
In 1992, area residents par-
ticipated by adopting a cop for the
run. Constable Pat Gonzalez of the
Kincardine OPP hopes that Luck -
now area residents •and businesses
will be as generous this year. If you
wish to make a donation, simply
call the Kincardine OPP at ask for.

All funds raised within the
province help provide an on-going
program of fitness, recreation and
sport for people of. all ages who are
mentally disabled.
The run proceeds down Campbell
Street around 3 p.m.

A word of caution is issued to
those viewing the ruins to stay
outside the fenced area for their
own protection.
This is the second major fire on
this property. On Aug. 29, 1962,
the Treleaven Milling Company
was destroyed. The late Jack
Treleaven, who was the fourth
generation proprietor and operator,
rebuilt and Was back in business in
early. 1963.

The Fire Marshall's office was on the scene Saturday, returning on
Sunday with a canine unit. Chief Steer said a: five -person crew from the
LucknoAL Fire Department worked under the direction of the Fire Marshall
on Sunday, and a crew from the Ripley department was hired by the
insurance company to erect a snow fence around the. perimeter.
The twisted steel remains of the Lucknow Feed Mill continued to
smolder on Monday, as the investigation continued.
