The offence got rolling in the first inning scoring 11 runs. The hitters collected 24 hits, two homeruns, three triples, four doubles, and 15 singles off the . Mitchell pitching staff, along with eight walks issued. Lucknow's defence and pitching staff held Mitchell to I3 runs. The pitching gave up eight hits, issued 11 walks and struck out 11. The team consists of 20 young ball players who are looking for- ward to the. '93 season. After allowing Dashwood to score four runs in the . top of the, first inning, • Lucknow seemed to get over the home opener jitters. Dashwood's pitching staff allowed five hits and issued two walks to Lucknow batters. Lucknow's next practice will see the coaching staff of Jim Famish, John Johnston and Dave Black helping' the boys out with their defence., The next home game is Sunday, June 6 .at 2 p.m. at the Kinsmen ball park. This year's team has 19 players representing Lucknow in the Western Ontario Baseball As- sociation (WOBA). The team is in the houseleague division with teams from Dashwood, Mitchell, Exeter, Lucan, Listowel and two from Goderich. The playing rules are varied in a few areas for these players of Pee Wee age: 1. Mercy rule - 10 run differential after five innings; 2. No final inning" shall begin after two hours have gone by, and 3. Unlimited substitution - every player bats in a continuous set order; players may be moved on and off the field inning by inning. The Lucknow Pee Wee hardball team' played their home opener with Dashwood and came away on the losing end of a 19 - 3 score on Sunday during play at the Kinsmen bail diamond.
