Copies of the Annual Report and Hospital Financial Statements may be obtained at the front desk of the Windham and District Hospital prior to three o'clock p.m., Thursday, June 17,, -1993. Said documents will, also be available at the Annual Meeting. Memberships granting voting privileges may be purchased at the front desk of the hospital for five dollars ($5.00) prior to' five o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June 2, .1993. Koch, Secretary 4-11, news Clubs join forces at park Twenty-eight members and two leaders from the Lucknow and' Cranbrook 4-H clubs joined forces last Saturday at the Wawanosh Park camp grounds. A I4 -tent village was built for the camp out, and then the volunteer chefs, Tony McQuail and Jolene Weber, served a hot lunch. The first club was "Take a walk on the wildside". Junior leaders, Dave and Chris Armstrong, who are members of the 1st Brussels Scout Troop, gave a compass and map reading demonstration. Ross Hemingway, the assistant leader, gave a first aid demonstration on splinting with proper first aid equipment, and then using whatever was handy, such as tree branches and shoe laces. Free time after supper was spent around the campfire enjoying hot chocolate, marshmallows and spooky stories. Dave and Chris woke up the crew on Sunday morning by using loud music and animal sounds. It was an early 7 a.m. wake up call. Members worked on Protecting Planet Earth until lunch time. After lunch, Jeff Mullen and Ester Buck took the group 'on a hike of the park and some reforestation land 'all belonging to Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. During the hike members learned how to tell the age of a pine tree without cutting it down. They also9 helped to install new 'bat homes' in the trees that 'a previous 4-H club had made. Many plant types were viewed, including Trilliums and Skunkweed. The evening was spent working on project books, being entertained by Double- Trouble and watching fire works. On Monday morning the third project "Conservation" was started. Following a barbecue lunch mem- bers resumed working on their projects. They had made terriums, bird feeders and pet rocks. Trinity Happy Heritage Hunters The Trinity Happy Heritage Hunters met at Janet Caesar's for their fifth meeting on May 28. They discussed lie -dying and the experimented on an article of clothing for themselves. They then tested their skills in identifying spices, The sixth meeting and achievement night was held May 25 at Trinity Church. The members presented research on various cultures. Guests viewed the displays and sampled recipes. Denise Black received a clock for 18 clubs, Danielle Cranston a pen set for 12 clubs and Lee Cranston a pin for six clubs, North Huron Vet Club. The North Huron Vet Club met on May 27 and talked about diseases. Phil explained viruses and bacteria. Plans were made for achievement night and members broke into groups to practice. Youth workshops announced June 28 marks the beginning of another fantastic summer session of Youth Workshops - pan of the new Regional Arts Program at the Blyth Festival. Children aged five to 12 are en- couraged to get involved in the half-day workshop program which introduces children to the world of the theatre. Children aged five to 8 will meet from 9 to noon and nine to 12 year olds, from 1 to 4 p.m. Under the theme of the environ- ment, they will make paper, play theatre games, create stories, make puppets and write songs. Registration is June 28 and the workshops will take place at the Blyth Festival from June 28 to July 9. Call 523-4345 for more infor- mation or to register your child. The Regional Arts Program at The Blyth Festival is pleased to announce the details of the 1993 Young Company workshops. During the exciting six week program, young people aged 12-20 will create their own play, receiving special instruction from members of the Blyth Festival's mainstage com- pany in acting, design, production, voice and playwriting. The Young Company will also makes use of the Festival's professional facilities. The.. Young Company offers a challenging and supportive environ- ment in which creative expression and artistic voice are encouraged.
