Edith Simpson
hosts Ashfield
WMS meeting
The Ashfield Women's Mis-
sionary Society met at the home of
Edith Simpson on May 17. A poem,
Highway of Life, was the opening
of the meeting followed by
repeating the purpose. A Coptic
Orthodox prayer was given before
the devotions that were prepared by
Beryl MacDonald. Mrs. MacDonald
spoke about spring and the
influence of mothers.
"Christians .who call God Allah"
was the topic from the Study Book
and members learned of the five
Christian churches in the middle
east and of their influence there.
Rollcall was answered by a
Mother's Day verse.
The Glad Tidings was reviewed
by June Wylds. The prayer for the
least coin was for the people of the
Middle Fast and our hope for peace
there.
Helen MacLennan conductedthe
business. The Children's Rally will
be held on June 10 at Kintail.
The meeting closed with song and
prayer and a social hour followed..

Lochalsh folks are busy
Mr. and Mrs. Allan MacLean of
Collingwood were recent visitors
with Ewan and Marj MacLean.
Charlie and Mayme were in
Ingersoll recently to attend the
baptismal services for their
granddaughter, Rebecca Dadson.
The following weekend they were
in Wallaceburg to celebrate another
granddaughter's (Colleen Peck)
birthday. She is the daughter of
Allen and Janet Peck.
Myrtle Fells of Whitby and
formerly of Lucknow passed away
on Sunday, May 17 in Whitby in
her 87th year. Mrs. Fells was the
daughter of the late Jim and Mary
Jane Webster. She is survived by
one son Roy and his wife Carol
Fells of Pickering. She was
predeceased by one brother Wel-
lington Webster and one sister
Winnifred Gammie. Mrs. Fells is
also survived by several nieces and
nephews.
Mayme Wilkins and Lloyd Irwin
were in Bowmanville on Tuesday to
visit their sister-in-law Lorene Ir-
win.
Dorothy Finlayson has returned
home from the sunny south, where
she spent much of the winter. The
Finlayson family was home on the
weekend to attend the internment of
Alma Finlayson of Toronto in the
Lochalsh Cemetery on Saturday
May 15.
The "family also attended the
funeral of Mrs. Donald MacDonald.
She was formerly Mary Finlayson.
Mrs. MacDonald passed away in
the Kincardine Hospital in her 90th
year.
Cecil and Kae Webster visited on
Saturday evening with Bob and Bob
Palin in Seafoith and on Monday
they were in Clinton. to attend the
funeral of the late John Smith.
