Spring activities are lots of fun dor students

Primary news
The primary classes are all into.
spring activities, and having, lots of
fun. Mrs: Cameron's Kindergarten
A class made butterflies, and are
learning some nursery rhymes.
They also put popcom on trees to
represent apple blossoms.
Mrs. McMillen's Kindergarten B
class planted "Jacks magic garden"
where the 'vegetables grew so
quickly they used them in the
"stone soup" they had on Thursday.
They have learned two new sounds
this month: F and R. They are also
talking about spring birds and are
watching films and videos about
them,
Mrs. Hodsman's Grade.1 class is
measuring and weighing objects

being safe cyclists; creating a mural
to go with their unit Out and
About; and learning about the
woods, meadows and ponds.

Robert's Grade 1/2 class is busy
exploring spring this month.
Students studied the food chain and
how it effects all living creatures
and the earth. They have, chosen a
spring insect research story, gar-
dening models and spring flower.

Mrs. Baker's and Miss Wise's
Grade 2/3 class is learning about
flight. They took a trip to the Sky
Harbour Airport in Goderich. They
are also "doing a unit on endangered
species in preparation for their trip
in June to the Toronto Metro ZOO,

Mr. Lobb's class went to see the
play Joseph and The Technicolor
Dream Coat at Colborne on Mon-
day. On Thursday they visited the
Milton Agricultural Museum. There
they learned a lot of fi'm history.
They are just. starting a unit on
insects in environmental studies.
They are starting a unit on poetry.
Mrs. Worsell's class has been
busy with the Standish, Michigan
pen pal exchange. The first week
the students travelled from Brook-
side to Standish, visiting the
hospital, and the Doll Gardens with
flowers and different . plants. 'Ten
pin bowling was.. fun. The next
week when the pen pals arrived
from Standish they went to the
Goderich Museum, Gaol House,
airport, and went five pin bowling.
The Grade 3/4 class had a terrific
field trip to the Milton Agricultural
Museum on May 13. They were
able to"experience first hand what
early settlement in Ontario was like.
Students enjoyed the horse drawn
wagon ride and the wagon master's
shop.
Mr. Culp's class has been busy
working nn a hockey unit, just in
time for the playoffs.
Intermediate News
This week has been very busy for
.all grades because of track and
field.
Mrs. Dozois' Grade 6 have been
busy working on .a space problem.
As aliens from another planet, they
must figure out how to survive in a
part of our solar system. This will
be done through a research report,
novel study, and creation of a
"space creature."
Grade 7 will be working on their
final science unit - soil and plant
ecology, and their final novel study
- The Day No Pigs Would Fly.
Both grades will be finishing up
fractions and beginning rate, ration
and per cent in math.
Miss Morton's Grade 7 and 8.are
finishing up per cent in math and
doing novel studies.
The Grade 7s are completing1
False Face and the Grade 8s have a
choice of a novel to study.
Mr. Hazliu's Grade 8s had an
amazing. time in Toronto when they
went . to see Joseph and The
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
In math they just finished up per
cent and will be starting a new
topic.
Special events

"Oliver." It was a great success.•

attended were very pleased.
