PLAY SOCCER - The new soccer field located
in Kinloss Township, at the northerly limits of
the village, was officially christened last week
when Councillor John Husk, Kinsmen Wayne
Phillips and soccer co-ordinator Jack Mali cut
the ribbon. They are surrounded by members
of,the Mustangs team who played that night.
The land was donated by Kinloss Township
and the Lucknow and District Kinsmen spe r -
headed the $18,000 project. The field had a
capacity, when used cross -ways, to accom-
modate three soccer games played by smaller
children at the same time. Upkeep of the field
will fall under the jurisdiction of the joint

Mustangs beat Goderich team
The Lucknow Atom Mustangs
played their first game of the
season on May 18 against Goderich
L.H. Resorts.
Both teams seemed evenly
matched in the first half of the

John Stewart
dies in Exeter
John Stewart, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Stewart formerly of
concession 14, passed way at
Exeter hospital, after a short illness.
He was a retired airman and was
postmaster at Crediton.
Mr. Stewart was one of a large
family. Mrs. Ron (Millie) Stanley
of Kinloss is a sister.
The funeral was held in Kincar-
dine. We extend sympathy to the
Stewart family.
Grace Eckenswiller, Myrtle Percy
and Bessie Maulden attended the
Bruce South District annual meeting
in Kincardine on Tuesday. It was
hosted by the Bervie Women's
Institute. They were delegates from
the Holyrood Women's Institute
and enjoyed the meeting and dinner.
David Rhody of Wakefield,
Quebec, spent a couple of days here
with his parents, Mr. an Mrs,
Gerald Rhody and others.
Mrs. George Jeans and her
daughter, Heather Clifford, and her
daughter Genille visited with May
and Edna Boyle on Friday.
Jean Phillips of Fonda is visiting
with her sister, Bessie Maulden.
Some from our area enjoyed the
Western Days at Lucknow, the
Craft Festival at Ripley and the
Community Singers in Kincardine.
Presbyterian WMS
The •Kinlough Presbyterian WMS
met at the home of Barbara Bushell
on Wednesday afternoon. The
president Isabel Thompson opened
the meeting with a poem' and a
hymn.
Rollcall was to give your favorite
Proverb.
Joan Barr led the devotions on the
ninety and nine and the hymn was
sung followed by the offering and
prayer.
Nina McDonald conducted the
Bible study from Matthew 11:28-
30.
Several members read scripture
portions that Nina had chosen en-
ding with a Bible quiz.
Refreshments and a bake sale
concluded the meeting.

Goderich made many good .moves
in the second half but could not get
past Lucknow's strong defence.

The final score' was Lucknow 3,
Goderich 1.
Get your swim suit ready
While the weather may not be
indicative of it, summer isap-
proaching and with that swimming
pool time,
Shauna Andrew, the pool coor-
dinator, is home from university
and started her duties on May 25.
Instructors/lifeguards have been
hired and the faces of Vanessa.
Alton, Sharon Askes, Tanya Suther-
land, Joy Becker, Lori Exel and
Lara Fenton will become familiar to
youngsters taking lessons or en-
joying a leisure time in the pool
this year.
Two sessions of swimming les-
sons are scheduled for this year,
each running three weeks. The first
session starts June 28 and the
second July 26.
Registration fees are: $40 for one
child, $60 for two children, $80 for
three children, plus $20 for each
additional child. Registration takes
place June 7 and 8. See the adver- ,
tisment in this week's issue for full
details.
Season passes for swimming are
$40 for one child, $60 for two, •
teenagers $50 and a family $100.
Daily admissions are $1 for.
students and $2 for adults.
Shauna said some of the programs
being offered this summer include
Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross,
pre-school lessons, swim team,
adult swim, aquafit, and junior
' resuscitation.. Fees and registration
for these programs will be an-
nounced in the very near future.
STEPPING BACK IN TIME - A procession of approximately 20
covered wagons, and individual skiers made Its way through
Lucknow on Saturday morning during Western Days. They are
a contingent that annually, on the May 24 weekend, get together
for a weekend of travel and fun. Their participation certainly
