Amy Austin graduates from CGIT
The Lucknow Canadian Girls in
Training (CGIT) entertained Secret
Alumnae Friends, mothers and
special guests at a tea on May 10,
President Andrea Hiller welcomed
everyone and Amy Austin
introduced the group's five leaders.
Leader Marita MacDougall was
honored as she leaves the group to
further her education.
Kim Harper thanked each Secret
Alumnae Friend for remembering
her girl for the last six weeks, and
members gave them the CGIT clap.
Barbara Willits replied for the
former CGIT ladies.
Leader Karen Spanswick
presented attendance awards to
Sherri McCracken, Amy Blake and
Stephanie Spanswick for faithful
attendance at CGIT and at their
churches. World friendship badges
were presented to leaders Marita
MacDougall and Alesha Moffat.
Leader Doreen Mali reported on the
group's foster sister in Kenya.
The CGIT members gave four
presentations to show some of the
activities and studies completed this
year. They sang two songs for their
guests and then everyone joined for
more songs.

All present and past CGIT. members
joined in the CGIT purpose. Doreen
and Karen presented Amy with a
graduation pin and diploma, a rose
and a leader's lanyard from the
group. Sharon MacDougall, on
behalf of the South Kinloss WMS,
presented Amy with a graduation
spoon.
Kristi Cranston introduced Rev.
Peggy Kinsman who used a basket
of stones to illustrate her message
of helpful attributes for a CGIT
graduate or member to possess.
Some of the stones had letters: C
for caring, G for gifts, I for infor-
mation and T for thanks. Sherri
McCracken thanked Rev. Kinsman
for her message.
All joined for Taps to close the
meeting.
Junior WI
elects new
executive
Members of the Lucknow Junior.
Women's Institute .enjoyed spring
when they met at I.C. Greenhouses
near Ripley:
Ida Piel told the group that
planting starts in December and
described ,how the seeds are started.
A tour was given through the
greenhouses where Geraniums,
Petunias and other flowers are
housed. Many were in bloom.
Membersre-grouped at Donna
Arnold's for the rest of the meeting.
The new executive includes Sharon
Nivins as president; Audrey Ritchie
as vice; Dee Graham as secretary;
Nancy Aitchison as treasurer; Anne
Guay as PRO; Cecilia Miltenburg
provincial director, and Shirley
Colwell and Heather Snyder as
branch directors. Pat Porter agreed
toaudit the books.
Plans were discussed, and
finalized for the annual trip the
Blyth Festival on June 24.
Members were asked to help with
the Lions supper on May 24.
Audrey Ritchie volunteered to chair
this event.
• Deanna Reavie reported on
Lucknow's Greenway Project. It
was decided to make a donation.
The members also voted in favor of
sponsoring the local 4-H club run
by Sharon Weber.

W5, Sections 3, 16 and 23, that unless noxious weeds growing on their lands are
destroyed by JUNE 7, 1993 and throughout the Season, the Municipality may
enter upon the said lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging the costs
against the land in taxes, as set out in the Act. Proso Millet and Velvet Leaf are •
named as noxious weeds in most municipalities, and Giant Cow Parsnip
(Hogweed) in alt County municipalities..
