given to my great, great
grandmother, Mrs. Roderick MacK-
enzie as a wedding gift," she said.
From there it was given to Erin's -
great Aunt Catherine and then it
was passed on to Erin's family.
Erin said the wheel is still useable
and "Mom (Connie Eadie) would
like to spin wool on it some day.
It's special' because it is so old and
I'm proud we have kept it for so
long."
Erin too learned a great deal
about her family when she .was
being told the history of the spin-
ning wheel.
An exciting part of the project
was when students were video
taped speaking about and displaying
.heir heirlooms or treasures. Angela
and Erin said this "was a lot of
fun."
Each student involved in the
project had his or her picture taken
with their treasure, which' together
with a write-up was put into a class
album. Last week, the two albums
and tapes were shipped to the Bruce
County Museum where they will be
exhibited.
The approximately 300 county
students who participated in the
Family Treasure Project will visit
the exhibit on May 21 and/or 26.
The exhibit will be open to the
public after May 26.
Ms. Green and Mrs. Black said
the classrooms found the project to
be very worthwhile and it provided
many learning experiences.
Bradley Gilchrist and Susan Guay proudly display their Family
Treasure album. This project resulted In students expanding
their knowledge on their personal family treasures. (Pat
