It is being conducted to identify specific needs for training and employment. According to Barb Fisher, manager of the Bruce Community Futures Committee, it is one of the largest surveys. of its kind to be conducted in the area and she is hoping for a large response. "The whole goal is to really impress upon people to fill it out," she said. The survey addresses such topics as employment status, skills, future employment desires, training and retraining needs and interest in self employment. Many of the questions are personal but Mrs. Fisher said the information is kept confidential. Although it is not required, the benefits from filling out the survey can come by including your name and some personal background information. When the survey is summarized later this summer, a need for specific programs can be identified. As a result, training programs could be created. By including your name and address, Mrs. Fisher said they will be able to contact people who have shown an interest in a specific area and get them involved in,a specific program created based on their responses. Historically, she said most surveys get a response of , between five and 10 per cent. "We're .looking for much higher than that," said Mrs. Fisher. She said she would be disappointed with anything less. v The survey is open to anyone over the age of '15 and Mrs. Fisher encouraged everyone, employed or unemployed, to participate. "Thepeople out there should see (the survey) is for them," she said. People will have about three weeks to fill out the survey and send it back to the Bruce Community Futures Committee where the information will be compiled with the help of software developed by Georgian College. Mrs. Fisher said there is already interest in the results of the survey from area school boards, the Grey -Bruce Industrial Training Advisory Committee and private trainers. . A summary of the survey results will be developed and Mrs. Fisher expects it to be ready by the end of July. The deadline for completion of the survey is June 4. The survey allows for two people to participate in each household. Anyone requiring additional copies can contact the Bruce or Saugeen Community Futures Committee. Thief makes himself right at home A 2f -year-old Kincardine man has been charged with five counts of breaking and entering and one count of breaking and entering with the intent to commit a theft. He was found naked and hiding under a bed when OPP arrived at a Point Clark cottage on May 13 at about 2:30 p.m. The police had been. called when someone found the cottage insecure and noticed a strange vehicle parked at that.property. Staff Sergeant Al Neville said it looked like the man had been sleep- ing on the bed and, when he heard the police arrive, crawled under- neath to hide. A. stereo, limited edition Roberto Alomar print, tape deck and CD player were stolen from the cottage and have not been recovered. While searching the cottage, police found a small quantity of cocaine and have charged the man with possession of a narcotic. OPP also seized burglary tools from . the suspect's car. Staff Sergeant Neville said it" , appears the macs had been at the cottage over night because food and liquor had been consumed: During the investigation, OPP have learned of four more entries to boat houses .and sheds along Vic- toria Road which may be related. OPP are investigating several other break and enters that have occurred in the area and may be connected [including three break and enters at Boiler Beach Road cottages. Those break and enters occurred between May 8 and May 16. Noth- ing seems to have been stolen from them but Staff Sergeant Neville said it appears someone had been eating and sleeping in the cottages. On May 12, a woman saw a man taking property from a vacant farm house and loading it into a pick up truck in Bruce Township. The'land is owned by herself and her husband and she tried to get the man to stop. but he wouldn't.
