Ashfield sets
1993 mill rate
At the May 4 meeting of Ashfield
Township, council set the 1993 mill
rates. The total mill rate for a
public school supporter is 14.784
(14.300 in 1992). For a separate
school supporter the rate is 15.169
(15.015 in 1992).
The county and general purpose
rates are 2.931 and 2.703 respec-
tively. Elementary school rates are
5.030 for public and 5.106 for
separate school. Secondary school
mill rates are 4.120 and 4.429
respectively for public and separate
school supporters.
Council approved a preliminary
loan application for an Ontario
Home Renewal Program Loan.
Henry Pope of Canadian Agra
discussed with council theload
limit restrictions on two culverts on
Sideroad 3 which access their
property. Council advised Mr. Pope
to look into alternate accesses, as
the load limit restrictions could not
be lifted.
A tile drain loan application for
James West was approved subject
to availability of provincial funding.

Kinloss council gives support
to IPM antique committee
A delegation from the Inter-
national Plowing Match Antique
Committee asked for assistance
from Kinloss Township at the
municipal meeting on May 5. Coun-
cil responded in the positive when
Leolfurray and Duncan Campbell
asked for the donation of a truck,
trailer and a man, to help load and
haul certain antiques to the plowing
match.
Henry Clark, road superintendent,
was instructed to proceed with
hiring a bulldozer to remove the
existing fence at the landfill site.
The quote of Steve Simpson was
accepted to replace the fence with a
new page wire fence. '
. Omar Brooks has been hired to
count, and issue dog licenses and
tags within the township at a rate of
$4.25 per dog.
Council will nominate Donna
Moffat to serve on the Wingham
and District Hospital Board.
Subject to the building inspector's
approval, two permits were ap-
proved for Robert Irwin and Ronald
Cassidy.
Jim Farrell, of the Federation of
Agriculture discussed the work the
Federation does and requested
council to consider a donation.
Council made no decision on the
matter.
Pursuant to Mr. Clark's sugges-
tion that rehabilitation work should
be done at the front of the township
gravel pit, council subsequently
authorized hitin to proceed accor-
dingly.
Special meeting
Council met in a special session
with Stan Beleutz and John Payne,
representatives of the International
Union of Operating Engineers local.

The collective agreement was
discussed for the road employees.
No agreement was reached.
