Avoid Disappointment Walley Green Flower LUCKNOW 528-2033 sr Former minister gives anniversary service Dungannon United Church marked its 138th, Anniversary on Sunday, May 2 with all churches within the Dungannon Union Pas- toral Charge amalgamating for this special service. Guest speaker for the day was Rev. Robert Roberts of Ridgetown, formerly of Dungannon, with Mary Garriock as organist. Special vocal music for, the occasion was provided by Lila Proctor of Brus- sels and Elaine O'Donnell of Goderich, who sang two beautiful duets. Lila accompanied them on the guitar. Rev. Roberts based his sermon text on scripture taken from John 10, verses 1 - 10 which tell, how the good shepherd cares for his flock and that Jesus was likened to the Good Shepherd. Following the service, the congregation met in the Sunday school room for a social time and light lunch. The altar flowers in the sanctuary for the anniversary service were Dby Sandra D'Aoust Nitemoninin UNGANNON placed in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Alton and Thomas Webster by the family. The monthly business meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. Fred Emberlin Fred Emberlin of Canning Street, Lucknow, died suddenly at the Wingham and District Hospital on Apr. 24, 1993, in his 82nd year. Mr. Emberlin was well known in the area for his long-time oc- cupation as a painter. He was a member of the Win- gham Bible Church. Mr. Emberlin was born on Sept. 28, 1911, in London, England and was a son of the late John and Edith Derbyshire. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Soloman, and children Dennie and his wife Marie of North Bay, Doug of Toronto, Ruth of Toronto, Roy and his wife Betty of Lucknow, Paul and his wife Jane of Toronto, Wendy and her husband Ken Gardner of Kitchener, John of Lucknow, Joy and her husband Lou Jurjens of Lucknow, and Mary and her . hus- band Rick McGlynn of Mount Forest. Mr. Emberlin will be missed by 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Dan Stuckey and Cliff Helfer conducted the service at the MacK- enzie and McCreath Funeral Home on Apr. 27. Debra Emberlin and Frank MacKenzie played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. Flower bearers were Angela Gardner, Lisa Gardner, Debra Em- berlin, and Becky McGlynn. Honorary Pallbearers were George Anderson, Tom Andrew, John Snell and Alan Graham. Active pallbearers were Lou Jur- jens, Rick McGlynn, David Ember - lin, Jeff Taylor, Eric Taylor and Jon Voisin. Winnie Fisher Sarah Christena Winnifred (Wi- nnie) Fisher of Campbell Street, Lucknow, died at Wingham and District Hospital on Apr. 25, 1993, in her 83rd year, She was a long-time member of the Lucknow Presbyterian Church, WMS and Lucknow Women's Institute. The former Winnie Nixon was born on May 29, 1910 in Lucknow. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Christina (McArthur) Nixon. Mrs. Fisher is survived by a son Bill and his wife Janice of Woodstock, grandchildren Jamie and Susan Fisher, and a great grandson Luke. She also leaves to mourn her passing a brother-in-law Jack Fisher and his wife, Mary of Point Clark, and a sister-in-law Manche Fisher, along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fisher's husband Gordon, who she married in 1934, predeceased her in 1981. She was also predeceased by a sister Pearl (Ken) Murdie. Visitation was at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Luck- now, where the service was held on Apr. 28. with Rev. Peggy Kinsman of the Lucknow Presbyterian Church officiating. Barkwell Mary Evelyn Barkwell died at the Blackadars Nursing Home in Dun- das, Ontario on Apr. 26, 1993 in her 99th year, For many years she was a mem- ber of die Ladies Auxiliary to Legion Branch 309 and the Luck - now United Church. Born in Ashfield Township on Oct. 23, 1894, the former Mary E. Hamilton was a daughter of the late Robert and Suzanna (Cook) Hamil- ton. ' Mrs. Barkwell is survived by her children Irene Button of Dundas, Mae and Harry Smith of Whitby, Frank and Helen Barkwell of Kin- cardine, Jack and Audrey Backwell of Toronto, Alice and George Taylor of Lucknow, Dave and Nancy Barkwell of Whitby, and Lloyd and Judy Barkwell of Florida. She is also survived by a sister- in-law Sadie 1-larnilton of Lucknow, several grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her husband Gilbert Henry Barkwell, who she married on June 2,' 1915 predeceased her: Mrs. Barkwell was also predeceased by a son Bob in 1990, a grandson Clarence, a great grandson Robbie, and two brothers Bob and Frank Hamilton. The Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 309 held a service at the MacKen- zie and McCreath Funeral Home on Apr. 28. -Rev. Peggy Kinsman con- ducted the service on Apr. 29.
