To the editor:
So why am I writing this letter?
Hope!
I have spoken in public about
organ donation and sometimes don't
feel as if I'm getting through to
people. At these times I have
wanted to stand up and yell, "Don't
you get it? Out of death has come
life! We are not without hope!".
It is the hope that comes from
watching a family, almost destroyed
by disease, continue to thrive and
grow.
The hope that is felt when a
mother and daughter share the life-
saving miracle of an organ
transplant...
The hope that is born with the
birth of a child who would never
have existed if not for the selfless
sharing of a donor family...
'r0 THE EDITOR
The hope that continues to grow
with the example of -a --courageous
person who died waiting for her
chance at new life...
We must keep listening and never
grow bored with the stories of
transplant recipients.
Each one is a miracle.
The Goderich Lioness are presen-
ting an Organ Transplant Night on
Thursday Apr. 29 at 7:30 at St.
Mary's School on Bennett St. in
Goderich. I will be speaking as well
as two transplant recipients. (No
admission). Sincerely,
Bonnie Langeveld

Ajob well done!
To the editor:
I just want all of you to know and
particularly all the young girls in
the area that "Guiding" is fun,
exciting and very interesting.
My daughter, Jennifer and I
returned home Sunday evening
from a three day trip to Toronto.
We were with the third -year Girl
Guides and the 1st Lucknow Path-
finders.
We travelled by train, What a
way to travel. It was great!
While there we toured Casa
Loma, the SkyDome, the Science
Centre, the CN Tower and we even
had time to do some shopping at
the Eatons Centre.
We followed a schedule prepared
by Joan Finlay and were not
rushed, having time to ride the city
buses and subways. The girls and I
TO THE EDITOR
really enjoyed this, as some of them
have never done any of these
things.
There were eight girls and four
adults. Our accommodations at the
Delta Chelsea Hotel were excellent.
We were all treated very well.
I would like to thank Joan Finlay
for a job well done. Your hard
work, time and effort was well
worth it. Also to Joanne Atkinson,
Dayle Taylor and all the girls. You
made by weekend very special as
you did for my daughter also.
Thank you.

Taxpayer says system gives
one no incentive to work
Editor's note: The following is a
copy of a `letter from a Lucknow
resident that has been forwarded to
Prime Minister Mulroney, Premier
Bob Rae, and various other mem=
bers of parliament.
To whom it may concern:
This is to inform you that while
this is supposedly a work ethic
society, this is not a true statement.
It is far better to be sitting at home
on social assistance than it is to
work.
Point in fact: I work two part-
time jobs as there are no full time
jobs available at this time. Both
employees deduct more than the
required amounts of income tax .
according to payroll deduction
books. This is an agreement. that I
made with my employers to save
myself from, facing a huge income

tax bill come April. Well, I am now
facing that huge income tax bill I
tried to save myself from.
I made $15,000 last year. I sup-
port myself and a working teenager,
who is working so he may further
his education which I cannot pay
for. I find it hard to believe that I
will have to pay an extra $1300
income tax which I will be hard
pressed '" to find on my income,
considering the normal monthly
payments (rent, heat, hydro, phone,
food, insurance, clothing).
There has to be a better system so
that the average person has an
incentive to work. The way things
are now, -I will have to seriously
consider quitting one of my part
time jobs so that I will not have
such a big income tax bill next
year. And if in the process I have
to go on social assistance, so be it.
