The sitters must be 12 years of age and older, live in the Ripley -Huron Township area, and supply their own toys for the • job. For more information contact Gail Lotion or Barb Messenger. Happy Hearts The winners of the Happy Hearts Euchre party held on Apr. 5 were Mary Brooks ,And Sadie MacLeod for the ladies and Donald Gillies and Hazel McDonald for the. men. Ripley Women's Institute The Ripley Women's Institute met at the home of Sadie MacLeod for 'their April meeting. The meeting began with a tasty forger food luncheon. President Donalda McLean opened the meeting by singing O'Canada and repeating the ode and collect in unison. The March. minutes were read and approved. Crafts for the plowing match were handed in. A certificate •was presented to the branch in honour of a donation to 4-H :work. This certificate will be placed in the tweidsmire book. The roll call, payment of fees, ' a joke or poem, was answered by 10 members. There was •a discussion on the high cost of our -fees surd the other demands for monies, when the organization is trying to obtain new members. After the correspondence was read and dealt with, the annual meeting followed. The minutes of 1992-93 annual meetings were read and approved. Rby Barb Grubb IPLEY The auditors reported no errors or omissions in 'the treasure's book. The co-ordinator gave a report compiled from the branch con- venor's report. All members were returned to the same offices for the 1993-94 year. A donation of $25 was given to the Ripley Fall Fair Board and $10 to the Hospital Auxiliary membership. It was decided to help in the tuck shop one week in July and one week in August as usual. Plans for the hospital tea -in June ,will be planned later. Delegates to the District Annual meeting were Donalda • McLean, Mary Brooks, and Minnie Lock. The delegates, to the area convention' was Donalda McLean and the alternate Sadie MacLeod. The meeting adjourned by singing "God Save The Queen". Benefit The Ripley Firefighters will be holding a come and go . benefit for Chris Anger at the Ripley Legion Hall, Chris injured his leg this past winter. Everyone is welcome to auend. Grand Opening Apr. 16 is the grand opening of the addition to , the Ripley -Huron Complex. Ribbon cutting find opening cerefbonies begin at 3 p.m. A dance will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. to the music of Affinity Promotions. If you have. not had the opportunity to see the addition this will be your chance. OPP- report pilot was not injured in plane crash Cessna 172 crashed in Bruce Town- ship while attempting, take off on Apr. 5 . In 'an unrelated incident a 46- year-old Amabel .Township man was charged with having care and control of el motor vehicle while impaired. Officers had come across the ., vehicle, on Concession 2 of Kinloss Township and brought the man td'the Kincardine Police Ser- vices for a breathalyser exam: Sergeant Larry Munro said he had three times the legal limit of alco- hol in his system and was also —L—charged. with driving- dcith more than 80 mg of alcohol in his sys- tem, driving while disqualified and having open liquor in the vehicle. Kincardine OPP are investigating an, accident which took place on Apr. 6, sending • two people by ambulance to the Kincardine and District General Hospital. The Owen Sound driver of a vehicle travelling west on Highway . 9 said the brakes failed on the pick up truck. The truck entered the intersection at Highway 21 and struck a southbound vehicle. Tests are still being conducted on the vehicle. A 39 -year-old Inverhuron man has been charged with theft of,' telecommunications for an illegal cable hook up. It was originally reported to OPP in 1992 and on Mar. 30, a search warrant was executed and the il qp the ministry of natural resources placed 200 fish in the Anderson Creek near Lucknow. "Our officers, will be watching' for poac-hers,-saki--said-Sergeant..Munro He said it is illegal to fish in any in -land water until the last Saturday in April. "We're asking people if they do see people fishing in in -land waters, that they call us," he said. Between last October and Apr. 10 a 'wooden door at a Boiler Beach cottage was forced open but nothing appears to have been stolen.
