Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny
hand out treats to kiddies
Mr. and Mrs, Easter Bunny were
spotted Sunday morning strolling up
and down the streets of Dungannon,
distributing treats to children who
came out to greet them.
Eric and Anna Courtney and
Sarah Marie of Burlington spent the
Easter weekend with Eric's parents,
Joe and Teresa Courtney of Dun-
gannon.
Gary and Chris Courtney and
family of Blyth played host and
hostess to Eric and Anna, Brian and
Jeannette, Joe and Teresa and all
the young Courtneys for Easter
Sunday festivities.
The Wednesday night euchre
party was held on Apr. 7 with 12
tables filled for 'competition. At the
close of play, Helen Russell, Vera
Purves, Dick Eisler, Harold Elliott
and Harold Kraemer were in the
winners' circle.
The Seniors' Group held . a
business meeting that afternoon at 2
p.m. Reports were read and
received by president Jean Phillips.
Upcoming events that were dis-
cussed were the pot luck supper on
Apr. 21 to be followed by regular
cards and the Zone Rally which
will be held on Apr. 22 in Exeter.
We are sorry to report that the
workshop on the property of Scott
and Lisa Rivett received extensive
damage in a fire on Apr. 6. A
benefit dance has been arranged on
their behalf for Saturday, Apr. 17
from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. This function
will be held at the Agricultural Hall
and the ladies have been asked to
supply the lunch.'
Church news
A worship service to celebrate the
resurrection of our Lord was held in
Dungannon 'United Church on
Easter Sunday, Apr. 11 under: the
leadership of Rev. Garth Bogart. It
is a pleasure to welcome back our
organist, Mary Garnock, following
the birth of the newestmember of
the Garnock family. •

During the service, the children of
the Sunday School sang three selec-
tions entitled Christ Arose, Morning
Has Broken, and Come, Children
Come.
The Sacrament of Communion
was served in all four . churches
within the Dungannon Union Pas-
toral Charge.
The sermon theme was based on
the scripture reading taken from
John 20, verses 1-18, which relates
the story of how Jesus appeared to
Mary Magdalene and the disciples
who had accompanied her to the
tomb, only to find it empty.
Sunday, May 2 will mark the
138th anniversary of the formation
of the Dungannon United Church.
Guest minister for this occasion will
be Rev. Robert J. Roberts of
Ridgetown. Refreshments will be
served following the service. All
churches within the charge will
unite for this special service.
The Trinity UCW are asking for
assistance to enable thero to help
others.' They are currently collecting
used stamps, Zehrs' and Knechtels'
tapes, plastic pill bottleswith lids,
pop tabs and Campbell's • soup
labels.
