will host
county
science fair
This year's Bruce Regional
Science and Technology Fair
will be held on Apr. 21 at the
Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
In years past, the fair . has
attracted hundreds of County
students to exhibit displays of
insightful and interesting scien-
tific research projects.
Students will also be treated to
a variety of special events ac-
tivities and programs, including
a trip to the Ontario Hydro
Visitors Centre. The Ontario
Science Centre will be presen-
ting demonstrations and par-
' ticipation events for the ex-
hibitors and public, as will the
Bruce County Museum and the
KDSS Mobile Fitness Lab. A
junior woodworking shop will be
presented throughout the day
once again, by Bob Hastings.
In keeping with this year's
expansion into the disciplines of
Technology, or Applied Science,
there will be a Junior Display
category for "Young Inventors."
As always, the public is invited
to come. and support our young
people throughout the day and
especially in the late afternoon
and at the awards ceremonies.

..• Robert Wilfred Farrish
Robert Wilfred Farrish of Luck -
now, formerly of Ashfield
Township, passed away in Win-
gham and GeneralHospital, on
Mar. 22, 1993, in his 71st year. He
as a member of the Lucknow Pres-
byterian Church.
Mr. Farrish was born on August
16, 1922, in Ashfield Township.
Left to mourn his passing are his
wife, the former Ina Johnston of
Kinloss township who he married
on June 8, 1943; one son Larry and
his wife, Maxine, of Thunder Bay;
three daughters, Margaret ,sand her
husband—_Ir-win___Campbell_of
Bluevale; Verna and her husband,
Wayne Kimpel of Kitchener, and
Alma and her husband and Marcel
Nobert of Kitchener.
Mr. Farrish is also survived by
one sister Anna Mae. (Lloyd) Mac-
Dougall and a brother Grant Far-
rish, both of Lueknow; 15
grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his
parents Wilfred and Grace
(Johnston) Farrish and a brother,
Alex (Bud).
Friends paid their respects at the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home, Lucknow. Rev. Peggy
Kinsman of the Lucknow Pres-
byterian Church conducted the
service Mar. 25 at 1:30 p.m. from
the Lucknow United Church.
Flower bearers were Robert Far-
rish (Jr.), Christine Thomas, Mark
Nobert, Nicole Nobert, Melvin
LaVoie and Ronald LaVoie.
Pallbearers were Michael Nobert,
Larry Thomas, Robert Campbell,
Ronald Campbell, John Farrish and
Allan MacDougall.

94 year old passes driver's
test with flying colours
When Wilfred McQuillan went to
take the test to renew his driver's
license he was told he had the
honor of being the oldest driver
holding a license in Huron County.
At 94 he passed the test with flying
colors.
The. residents of River Vatley
Apartments have enjoyed different
entertainment during the month of
March. The Sunshine Group, Rev.
Bill and Peggy Henderson, Betty
O'Donnell and Jean Conley had an
Irish program for St. Patrick's, Ed
Green, Florence McConnell and
Jean Conley and the Kinettes had a
card party and lunch.
Monday • morning the children
from Puddleducks enjoyed an
outing at the Willits swimming
pool.
Sympathy is extended to the
Nicholson family of Shelbourne,
formerly of Lucknow, in the pas-
sing of Karen's husband, aged 30

Isn't it wonderful to see the signs
of spring? Monday morning there
were some Canada geese on the
mill pond sounding very indignant
that it was still covered over with
ice.
The Drop in Centre's gathering
on Mar. 26 took the form of a pot
luck dinner prior to eight tables of
shoot being played.
High lady and gent were Mary
Lavis and Wes Young. Low players
were Rita Gilmore and Wilbur
Brown, with Richard Grant taking
the most shoots.

25 per cent of Ontario's poor

part-time' jobs.
The conclusion about the residen-
tial property tax was that it was a
regressive tax. On average, taxes
decline as a percentage of
household incomes as household
income increases. In Ontario there
is not a standard system of as-
sessment. This makes it difficult for
the property tax payer to understand
how it works or compare as-
sessment. It frustrates any attempt
to be fair.
The next hearing of the Fair Tax
Commission is in London at the
Sheraton Armouries Hotel on •Apr.
13. The goal for the Commission is
to find out how fairness can be
achieved in .the tax system. The
public • is encouraged to make
presentations or attend the meeting.

In last week's write up regarding
the annual water fees, an error was
made in listing the discount. The
discount is' actually $5 if payment is
made by April 1. The Sentinel
apologizes for the confusion.
The village card party was held
on Tuesday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. George Lubbers with
three tables in play..
High lady was Vera Falconer and
high white card was Agnes Farrier
playing as a man. Low lady was
Evelyn Gibb, with low man Hugh
Simpson.
This is the late .card party until
next November when the plan to
start them again.
