Be they Irish
or not, all eyes
were smilin'
last Saturday
if the crowd at the Lucknow
-Town and Country Club's Irish
program last Saturday was an
indication, people are sick and
tired of winter and ready 40
get out and kick up their
heels.
It was standing room only as
the Legion Hall was filled to
capacity to enjoy first
refreshments and then a lively
program of jokes, step -
dancing, music and dancing.
Garry Ballagh, representing
Prime Time Wingham, along
with Janice Ballagh at the
piano, the famous Frank
Leahy and a young step
dancer Amy Scott, of
Teeswater . opened the
program. They were In town to
entertain and to promote
Prime Time now entering its
third year.
Gord's Old Tyme Band
provided some rousing music
for the crowd, and the
Lucknow Scottish Dancers
turned Irish for the afternoon.
It was an unsurpassed
success for the seniors' club
who were a little overwhelmed
to say the least when they saw
the crowd that gathered.
Quilters learn
to make fabric
pocket books
Barbara deBoer presided for
the Five Star Quilters Guild
March meeting held at the Luck -
now Town Hall.
Fifty-four ladies answered the
rollcall with show and tell.
"A quilt in a day" was a
beautiful display of colour and
design.
Mrs. deBoer and Mona Tunney
taught fabric pocket books to the
class that kept 24 sewing
machines buzzing.
Miniature quilts will be taught
at the next meeting, in Teeswater
on April 28, by Betty Armstrong
and Nellie Brock. Bring material
for these mini quilts.
Mirror quilts will be
demonstrated in the near future.
Anne Hawkins and her commit-
tee will choose the theme for
next year's quilt block. Caroline
Menary has the Guild quilt set
up at her home. Quilters are
welcome.
The block lottery for April is
spring flowers in soft colors.
& bus will take`interested—
quilters to a show on May 1 at
Scarborough and Brampton. The
bus will leave Teeswater and
Wingham at 7:15 a.m.
