Anna Dexter celebrated her 80th
birthday on Mar. 13, with an open
house at River Valley Apartments.
She said it was a beautiful party
with over 100 guests dropping in

Orillia and from Kincardine, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Craigie, Elizabeth
McSween, Mr. add Mrs. Frank
Barkwell and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver
McCharles.

Eight tables of shoot were in play
at the Drop in Centre on Mar. 19,
when Grace Gibson and Andy Scott
were high players. Low spots went
to Mary Belle Peddle and Tom
Phillips. Richard Grant won the
most shoots.
City . folks visit in Kinlough
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Licker of Lon
don visited here with Pastor and
Mrs. Marvin Christensen during the
weekend.
Elma Mae Kaufman and Kimber-
ley of Mildmay visited here with
their mother Nina McDonald.
Hope students and teachers en-
joyed the March break.
On Tuesday, Grace Eckenswiller,
Nina McDonald and Mrs. and Mrs.
Jack Scott were among those who
took the bus trip to Woodstock to
the Legion hall, for the Irish
program called Showcase Cabaret,
which, they really enjoyed. After
they were treated, to maple syrpp.
products, the • butter tarts and hot.
cider were so good on such a
snowy cold wintery day. All had
enjoyed the day's outing and glad
to see home as the roads were icy
and the day very windy and, cold.

The Kinlough WMS met on Wed-
nesday afternoon at the home of
Bessie Maulden: Betty Bushell
presided and gave a reading on
spring'followed by a hymn and then

Bible verse containing the word
green as it was St. Patrick's Day.
Marilyn Reid read the devotions
on love, prayer and sin. Questions
were answered in group's. on
Knowing God and refraining from
sin. She read a passage on being a
true friend.
Betty Bushell led in a study from
the Glad Tidings and had references
centered around the churches in
solidarity. Barbara -Bushell read a
story about serving and Betty gave
a prayer andread three poems
entitled Prayer, Springtime and
Human Beings and read about the,
first Presbyterian. Elder. A Bible
quiz was conducted and a Bible
story read, comparing men and
women in, the bible to our present
day men nd women. The Lord's
prayer and a hymn closed the
meeting. Refreshments were served
followed by a time of fellowship.
New program. for farmers
- The Ministry of Agriculture and
Food is offering a new program' to
farmers who are experiencing finan-
cial difficulty. The program
provides an' opportunity for farmers
to explore and .evaluate their op-
' tions.
The application form is only a
single 'page but the applicant has to
show need by supplying supporting
documents. The document can
simply , be , a letter from a creditor
intending to realize on security.
Some people, may wish to submit a
balance sheet; cash flow. plan and
debt wn'icing worksheet to show
that they are unable to meet finan-,
cial obligations as they become due.
The maximum assistance
availabiz under the program is
$6;500 per applicant. Service is
provided in five main -areas. -
This program is one of three
components under the 1993 Farm
'Finance Education and Ex,rtise
Initiative.' •

OBITUARIES
Ripley, formerly of Lucknow and
Huron Township, died at the Kin-
cardine Hospital on Mar. 17, 1993
at' the age of 92 years. She was a
member of the Ripley United
Church, •
• The former Evelyn Ruth Hooey
was born on Mar. 11, 1901 in
Huron Township. She was a
daughter of 'the late William and
Susan (Rutherford) Hooey.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by
one son, Grant and his wife Barbara
McDonald, of Ripley; and three
grandchildren, Pamela, Peter and
Paul McDonald all of Ripley.
Also left to mourn her passing -are
a sister Verna Finlayson of Ripley,
brother Elmer Hooey^ of Lucknow
and a sister-in-law Mayme Hender-
son of Lucknow. •
Mrs. McDonald was predeceased
by her husband Murdoch, in 1986,
brothers Lorne, Mervin and Stuart,
and sisters Alva Srneltzer and
Blanche Pollock.
Visitation was at the MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home,
Ripley, where the service was
conducted on Mar. 21 by Rev. V.

now and formerly of Toronto and
England, died at the Wingham and
District Hospital on Mar, 15, 1993
in her 85th year. •
'She was horn in England on Nov.
3, 1008.
Mrs. Wannaby is survived by her
son, Tony and his wife Diane
Wartnaby of R.R. 5 Lucknow, a
sister of Gladys of England, and
many nieces and nephews. -
