Novice "A" team brings
home runnerup awards
The Lucknow Novice "A" team
travelled to Blyth for a tournament
on the weekend.
Coming up against the host town,
Lucknow's Devin Petteplace gave
his team a one goal lead in the first
period.
In the second period, Jeff MiVee
scored from Bob Raymond to give
Lucknow a two goal lead but Blyth
tied it up shortly after. Petteplace
scored f>;om McNee to give Luck -
now a 3-2 lead at the end of two
periods. In the. third period
Raymond scored from McNee to
give Lucknow a 4-2 lead. At the
6:14 mark Blyth dented the twineto
close the gap to 4-3. Raymond's
goal at 4:15 on a pass from Darlene
Aitchison gave the Lucknow the
win with a 5 to 3 score.
Lucknow vs Elma-Logan
In this second game it wasn't
until the second period that the
scoreboard moved. McNee tallied
two quick goals to give Lucknow
the lead at the end of the second
period. Assists were by Raymond
and Aitchison.
In the third, Petteplace scored
from Jason Pentland and Lucknow
had a three to zip lead.
With only 1:37 left in the game
Elma-Logan scored to break the
novice
shut out bid by Blue Wiens. Final
score Lucknow 3, Elma-Logan 1.
Championship game.
Lucknow met Clifford in the final
match of the tournament. Both
teams skated very hard and Luck -
now out shot their opposition only
to be invaded twice in the second
period to put them ahead 2-0.
In the third Lucknow pounded the
Clifford goalie time and time again
but Clifford tallied another to go
ahead 3-0. •
The game looked a little lopsided
until Jason Pentland fired a beauty
from the blue line in the last minute
of play to put the score at 3-1.
The whole team played great
hockey both days despite being
short three regulars. The teams
were rewarded with engraved pucks
donated by the Blyth Lions Club
for their efforts as "A" Runnerup.
This pretty well wraps the season
for another year and the players and
parents would like to thank Carl
Stanley, Cliff . Mann and John
Hamilton for their time and
dedication.
Novice "B" play parents
Despite playing hard, the Novice
"B" team has some trouble in
scoring. In an exciting game against
Nonnanby, they were unable to take
advantage of a penaltyshot and
Normanby took home a 1-0 win.
Un Mar/ 22, the parents and the
team had some fun when the
parents lost the game by one goal.
The parents and team members
send a big thank' you to Barry Aus-
tin, Ted Pritchard and Kevin Cook

The Lucknow Peewee "A's"
played two excellent games at the pEE W E E
Young Canada Week Peewee Tour-

March break.
In the first game against the
Goderich Selects, Lucknow
outplayed their opposition in every
aspect. The Lucknow scoring
machines easily pierced the
Goderich defence to capture a 9-1
victory. Our hardworking defen-
cemen and goalie also deserved a
pat on the back for a game well
played.
Goals were scored by Dennis
Lubbers, Chad Freeman, Jonathan
MacKinnon and Craig Moffat with
two each, and a single to Tim Vis-
sor. Assists went to Chad Freeman,
Craig Moffat, George Carter, Tim
vissor, Greg Courtney and Jonathan
MacKinnon.
Lucknow vs Stephen
The second game against Stephen
Township was a challenging one;
Craig Moffat opened the scoring at
•
the nine second mark assisted by
Dennis Lubbers and Jonathan
MacKinnon. With two minutes left
in the first period, Ean Moffat
added a second goal assisted by
Dale Courtney and Jonathan Chil-
ton.
It was an uphill battle from that
point on as Stephen Township took
home a 5-3 victory.
Lucknow's third goal came late in
the second period scored by Craig
Moffat, assisted by Jonathan MacK-
innon. Great effort guys!
The Peewees' wele back in
playoff action on Saturday, Mar. 20
as they travelled to Drayton to
begin their final best -out -of -three
series. Once again with outstanding
effort from every member of the
team, Lucknow was able to capture
a 5-4 victory. Keep up the hard
work guys.
Pee Wees play in tourney
The PeeWee house league team
travelled to Walkerton on the
weekend to play in a tournament.
They met Arthur in the first game.
Try as they might against a very
rough and tough team, Lucknow's
two goals by J.J. Humphrey were
not enough against Arthur's four
goals to win.
In the second game they took on
Chesley in a very evenly matched
game at the start. The first period
was scoreless and in the second,
Chesley took the lead by one.
Lucknow's T.J. Clough came
right back and fed a nice pass to
Christie Clough who put it home to
