Primary news
. Mrs. Cameron's Kindergarten A
class has just completed a unit on
dinosaurs. ,. Mrs. Clarke, our
librarian, helped us make a
beautiful big book about dinosaurs
hiding in the grass. Their favorite
dinosaurs are Triceratops, Bron-
tosaurus and the terrible Tyran-
nosaurus Rex. They have predicted
that since March came in like a
lamb, it will go out like a lion.
They have also enjoyed doing St.
Patrick's Day activities. They have
made shamrock -shaped booklets
with St. Patrick's Day words and
pictures. Their leprechauns turned
out very nicely. Their only March
birthday in Je,ani deBoer.
March brought lambs, lions,
shamrocks and leprechauns into
Mrs. McMillen's Kindergarten B
class. They are hoping March will
not go out as a lion. "They are tired
of bundling up for the winter
months!" Each week the children
are learning about a different letter
sound. Last week was "S.' week.
The boys and girls brought lots of
things to share with. the class from
snakes to sweaters. Everybody is
looking forward to, the spring break.
Mrs.. Hodsman's Grade 1 class
has been learning to tell time, and
having a look at different clocks
and what! makes them tick. They
are building a puppet stage out of
cardboard and they're making pup-
pets to go with stories they know
like "The Little Red Hen." The
class is sorry to say that their gerbil
Digger died. Ralph, the other gerbil,
is very lonely and spends most of
his time under the soil.
Miss Roberts and Miss Anguish's
Grade 1/2 class has been resear-
ching winter animals. Many groups
have travelled to the library to find
out information on their animal.
Information booklets, models and
stories have been created.
Mrs. Baker's and Miss Wise's
Grade 2/3 class has been studying
"Children Around the World"
especially the children of South
America and the Inuit. They are

County are being cut by over 14

math they are doing multiplication,
. and the grade twos are learning
double digit addition without
regrouping. All the kids have been

(most frequently used words in the
English language) and how to write
sentences.
Junior news
Grade 3/4, Mrs. Tebbutt's class,
has been busy in these first two
weeks of March attempting to
forecast the weather. They were
able to use the Weather Kit from
the Learning Resources Centre
along. With some classroom
instruments and homemade equip-
ment to help make 'predictions for
the coming day. Although there
seem to be some budding
meteorologists in our midst, it is
most definitely too early to stop
listening to the daily weather
predictions by Jay Campbell!
Mr. Lobb's Grade 3/4 class has
been busy working on posters on
the environment, "Line in the Dirt",
and World War II. They have all
completed research on World War
II. They also watched a movie on
World War II called "The Fall,
Hong Kong". In music they are
listening to big band music and
music made in World War II.
Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5/6 class
has completed their research essays
'on. Europe and each student
prepared their display for the
European Travel Fair which was
held in the gym. Mr. Whiteley
shared some videotape of Europe
with them and Marian Zinn showed
them , slides of Europe. They ap-
preciate the time given by both of
them to share their experiences with
the class!
A picture is worth a thousand
words but how do you get a
thousand words from a picture?
Mr. Culp's, Grade 5 class isn't
after a 1000 words, but a complete
story that sets the scene, uses
quotations and has proper
paragraphs is the goal.
