Pee Wee A's
on winning -
streak
The ' final scores of the last
nine games played by the Luck -
now Pee Wee "A" team have
been in their favor.
Their most recent triumph
came on Mar. 9 against Hanover
in the third game of the second
round of playoffs.
Craig Moffat scored first with
assists from Dale Courtney and
Brent Cameron. Hanover tied it
up at the 10 minute mark of the
first period. With three seconds
left in the second period C.
Moffat scored again with passes
from B. Cameron and Cameron
Moffat.
Lucknow scored three more
times in the third to take a.5 to
1 win. Goals were by Chad
Freeman, Brent Cameron and
Dale ' Courtney, with assists
going to B.,Cameron, C. Moffat,
Nathan Ferguson, Ean Moffat
and Jonathan Chilton„
Lucknow heads into Young
Canada Week "h high hopes.
Stay tuned.
Pee Wee house league
takes two games in OT
On Mar. 8, the Lucknow Pee Wee
house league, in a confident frame
of mind, travelled to Teeswater.
Both teams pushed themselves to
the limit, but Teeswater put the first -
mark on . the scoreboard.
Lucknow's Jay Humphrey came
back with a beauty goal to tie it up.
Soon after, Lucknow's' defence
opened for an instant' anti let Tees -
water score a second goal.
In the second period, Lucknow
played hard and kept, their own net
,empty. At the 2:58 mark, Richard
Walke bewildered the home team
net minder and tied,up the game at
two each.
In the third, Teeswater took the
lead again, but soon after "Mr.
Zamboni" Jay Humphrey scored his
second of the night to tie 'the game
again. '
Teeswater carried Lucknow into
the OT period but was unable to
penetrate Lucknow's defence and
good goal tending. The final score
remained at three each.
A great game was played by
"Zamboni" Humphrey, T.J. Clough,
"Purple" Mali and Rich Walke,
,with honorable mention, to the
' remainder of the team.
Lucknow vs Ripley •
On Mar. 10, the Pee Wee house
league team travelled .to Ripley.
Lucknow opened the scoring when
J.J. Humphrey beat the 'Ripley
goalie with a pass from Shane
Petteplace. Ripley came back with
a marker to tie the game at one
after the first period.
In the second period Ripley out-
scored Lucknow three to one. Luck-
now's goal was scored by Richard
Walke, assisted .by Daryl Aitchison
and Jeff Cranston.
In the third period, the score went
from 4-2 to 6-2 as Ripley added
two more. Lucknow tried very hard
to even up the score, but with no
success.
Lucknow vs Kincardine
Last Thursday Lucknow travelled
to' the Kincardine arena to take on
the "largest" team in the league.
Lucknow came out skating hard
and.looking for a win..Action took
place up and down the ice and the
game remained scoreless after one
period.
In the second, Lucknow opened
up and after several close calls in
front of the. Kincardine net; Gavin`
Colwell put one in with his "shins"
to open up the scoring. Kincardine
took offence and came back to tie it
up first .and then take the lead 2 - 1.
At 4:24 "Zamboni" Humphrey
tied it up on a nice assist by T.J.
Clough.
In the third, Lucknow held up
under considerable pressure. Two'
penalties at nearly the same time
left Lucknow's defence really
scrambling to defend -their end, but
they hung on to go into overtime.
Lucknow stood their ground in
the overtime period and despite
repeated drives, just could not put
the icing on the cake. Superb net
minding, kept Kincardine off the ,
scoreboard as well.
It was a great game to watch.
Lucknow . is really playing well.
Good luck in the rest of the
playoffs team.
