At the close, of play, Aileen Trommer, Tom Young, Jim Errington and Joe Courtney were in the winners' circle. Congratulations. On Wednesday, Mar. 10, they did it all over again, and once more filled 10 tables. Winners were Dorothy Cuyler, Shirley Hackett, Nels Pearson, and `Mr. Frank'. A pot luck supper is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 17, with the regular card party to follow. Agricultural Society News Euchre was the name of the game at the monthly tournament, spon- sored by the Dungannon Agricul- tural Society. This tournament was held on Saturday, Mar. 13, at the Agricultural Hall with 21 tables filled at thecommencement of play. The special contest was won this month by Frank Todtz and four lucky competitors won free passes to the next euchre tournament in April. The sermon text was based on the scripture reading from John 5: verses 5-42 which relate the meeting of Jesus and the Samaritan women at the well. Roll call was something that the current generation learn 'at school that I did not. Some answers were French Immersion, metric system, computer courses, conservation and recycling information :and -projects. Fourteen members attended. Roberta Linskil, filling in for Joan Dougherty, read the minutes, the financial report and the correspon- dence. One letter, from the Federated Women's Institute, wanted each institute to collect grass -rots his- tory, by checking records and inter- views from- the past and names' entered in the Tweedsmuir history books. A book is going to be writ- ten containing this collected infor- mation. As the new de -streaming process. is of interest to many people, we discussed the pros and cons of its installation in the fall. By this process all children will be treated equal, the slower learners being helped by the faster learners as in one -room schools of the past. This is assuming all children have the motivation to learn and go on to university. Some do better if they drop out and live in the real world for a while until they want to learn as they mature later on. 'Many former students are going back and taking specialized courses of their- own choice to help them get a better job. She and her husband had just returnedfrom an, extended trip through the country on behalf of the health system he works for. • "More on the plowing . match The Lifestyles Programs of the Bruce County International Plowing Match are now gearing up for final preparations for the Sept. 21-25 event.' • They are seeking volunteers from all over Bruce County to -help as ' hosts and hostesses during the 'five days the match will be' held. - Hostesses and hosts willbe needed in each of the tents and at .the gates.
