Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Christen- sen visited in London with his mother, Esther Christensen at the home of her daughter Vivian Parkinson, where she is spending ,the winter inonths. Mr. and Mrs. Ken MacDonald and Heather and Nina McDonald visited last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Thompson of near Tees - water. Nina also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Husk at Kincar- dine during the week. We extend sympathy to Mr: and Mrs. Robert Burt of Toronto in the accidental death of their son Jerry Burt. Bessie Maulden returned home after visiting at Fonthill withher sister Jean Phillips and with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Palmer at Wel- land: Bessie, Jean and Peggy Phil- lips flew to Florida for a holiday and one special visit that they en- joyed was with a former neighbour and friend, Wilda (McLean) Nixon at Lakeland. Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushell also returned home after a trip to Florida. They had an enjoyable holiday. Several weeks ago James Dillon INLOUGH by May Boyle of Walkerton passed away. Teresa, Mrs. Jim Thompson, is a sister. Our sincere sympathy is extended to all the bereaved. ACW The Anglican Church Women met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mary Haldenby, with a good attendance. Maureen Collins wel- comed everyone and opened with a poem and a hymn, all in keeping with lent. The scripture was from St. John followed by prayer. The roll call was a lenten verse or reading. Kay Thacker read the minutes and cor- respondence, followed by the. business. Alfhild Neabel invited the ladies to her home on Con. 8 for the Apr. 8 meeting. Maureen Collins and Mrs. Neabel led in a litany ending with a prayer garden and other lenten contests and thoughts. Lynda Thacker gave the lentcn meditation and also had a humorous reading on church attendance. Ag- nes Hodgins read I'll -do it, and I do thank God. The meeting closed with a hymn and prayer followed by the cour- tesies Grove lady participates in, Ontario . Winter Games Ian MacDonald of -Purple -Grove travelled to Cornwall last weekend to participate in the Ontario Winter games. He represented South West District Judo. Lesley Johnston spent last weekend with Jim Farrell's family: Saturday night Jim and Fran Farrell visited with Mel and Reninie Ar- nold. Sunday Jim and Fran and family. visited with Fran's father Derk Loughtenberg, and helped him celebrate his birthday. Glen stayed with grandpa Derk. Bette MacLeod and Edna Stanley attended the Toronto Symphony concert of "Roger and Ham- merstein" in Toronto with the adult class from Kincardine District High School. Gladys Arnold and Gordon Patter- son, Albert and Marjorie Mid- dlekamp went to Listowel last Sun- day to attend a special service in Trinity United Church to mark the 50 years of "Ordination" for Rev. George Ball. Best Wishes to Elva Needham, who celebrated her 80th birthday last Sunday in the Legion Hall PURPLE GROVE Ripley. Don and Ann McCosh had a birthday party for Ian Elliott of Bracebridge last Saturday night. Joyce and John Farrell, Tania, Tobi, Kay and Jenny, Dick McCosh and Mary Ann Kukoly attended the party. Last Tuesday, the bible class met at Ann McCosh's and this week will meet at Bette MacLeod's. Morley and Deannenott visited last Sunday.; in Goderich with audrey and Edward Lenner of Goderich..
