Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, March 10, 1993 - Pagee'15 Guest speaker promotes - agriculture in classroom The March meeting of the Purple Grove W.I. was held at the Community Centre. • Dianne Simpson, vice president, presided over the meeting. Fran Farrell gave the district director's report. The district annual will be in" Kincardine Anglican Church on May 18. The speaker was Mrs. Jane Dietrich of Mildmay who is chairmanof the Agriculture in the classroom committee. Each school in Bruce County has been sent a package which includes a video, all kinds of teaching materials and a game. Every school has an agricultural contact to assist the teachers in integrating agriculture into their lessons. Farm tours are encouraged. The aim of the program is to get the students know why agriculture is important to them. The group is encouraged to compete in the school competition at the International Plowing Match. Fran Farrell is the contact person for the Ripley schools. Megan, Jennifer and Carol Pollock spent last weekend with Diane and Son Simpson and girls and grandma MacKay, Trillium Court.. Kay Collins, Bette MacLeod and Annie Scott spent Tuesday afternoon with Violet McKenzie in Kincardine. Happy Birthday to Kyle Bridge on Mar. 11; Gladys Amold 88 on Mar. 8 and Marjorie Thompson. Bette MacLeod, Donalda Pollard and Katherine Collins enjoyed a visit and cards with Margaret Harkness in Bervie last Saturday. , Don, Ann and Dick McCosh, Margaret Kukoly and Laura Moes of Armow had dinner last Sunday with John and Joyce Farrell. Tobi Farrell spent last weekend with Joy - Ellen Greenwood. Theresa Farrell who is on a exchange with a friend in Germany, celebrated her birthday last Sunday in Germany. David Machines is spending a few days with his grandma Edna Stanley. The "Thompson Bonspiel" was held last Saturday in the kipley Curling Rink. Wray and Dinnie Thompson played on the winning team. Don and Anne MCCosh and Florence Colwell had dinner with Marjorie Reid last Thursday in Kincardine. A card party was held in the Purple Grove Community Centre last . Wednesday evening.
