HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1993-03-10, Page 5-Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, March 10, 1993 - Page 5 William John Neabel -William John Neabel, formerly of Lucknow and Listowel, died at the Fordwich Nursing Horne, on Feb. 28, 1993, in his 94th year. Mr. Neabel was a retired fanner. He was born on April 7, 1899, in Grey Township, He was the son of the late Daniel aN1 Susan (Nelms) Neabel, He is survived by nine children: Dorothy Fischer of Listowel; Gordon and his wife Mary Neabel of Dundallc; Helen Neabel of Goderich; Shirley and her husband Gene Tunney of Erin; Graham Neabel of Lucknow; Murray and his wife Liz Neabel of London; Judy and her husband Robert Nickel of Listowel; Howard and his wife Mary -Lou Neabel of Lucknow; and Ken and his wife Anne Neabel of Ripley. Also surviving are two brothers Bert of Woodstock, and Ferg of Tiverton; two sisters Gladys McNeil of Brantforyl, and Susan Bet►niwies of Seafor Gladys N Mr. Nea • and a sister-in-law gel of Woodstock. 1 was grandfather to 23 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife the former Irene Graham in 1979; four brothers Ifred, Harold, Charles, Arthur, and a sister Doris; a son-in-law, Julious Fischer and three grandchildren. Visitation was at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, from where the funeral was conducted on Mar. 3 by Rev. Albert Cuuk. Flower bearers were Joyce Schmidt, Wendy Schmidt, Cheryl Laverly, Lisa Neabel and Kim Nickel, Pallbearers were Brian Neabel, Howie Neabel, Gary Nickel, Rick. Tunney, Bob Neabel, and Douglas Fischer. John Fraser Henderson John Fraser (Jack) Henderson, formerly of Lucknow, died at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, on Feb. 21, 1993, at the age of 72 They checked out what life would be like as an ant by Bethany Luchies - The students have "been busy at LDCS. On Feb. 9, they said their speeches in the gym. All of them were very ,well spoken. In the junior category Nathaniel Bakalaar and Heather Lootsma were chosen to go on to the Legion. Heather's speech was on Sandy, her dog, and Nathaniel's speech was on being mischievous. They were both very good. In the senior division Dennis Lubbers and Michelle VanderVaart were chosen: Dennis's speech was on his dad's cooking and Michelle's was on hiccups and how to cure them.. Jessa Kuyvenhoven and Nathan VerderKlippe , were runners-up. Although none of them placed at the Legion, we're very proud of them. Congratulations!. On Feb. 24, Mrs. Nonkes came to the school with a very special guest, her new-born son. Jacob William Nonkes was born on Feb. 7. All the students thought he was very cute and very small. The grade ones and two presented jacob with gifts of toys. On Mar. • 12, the Ldcknow and District Christian School is having a fun night. The entire family can come. There will be food and games. He will be remembered for his love of singing, Mr. Henderson sang in many church choirs over the years and often performed solos. • Mr. Henderson was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Lucknow to the late William E. and Maude (Robertson) Henderson. He is survived by his sister, Jessie Chester of Lucknow; two nieces, Margaret Chester of London, and Joan Courtney, of R.R. 7, Lucknow; and two nephews, Bill Chester of Brandon, Manitoba and Tom Chester of Wingham. Besides his parents, he was prede- ceased by his brother-in-law Ken Chester. Visitation was at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, where the service was conducted on Mar. 6 by Rev. P. Kinsman and Rev. A. Human. Spring interment Greenhill Cem- etery, Lucknow. Alice Jefferson Alice Jefferson, formerly of West Wawanosh Township, died at the Trillium Court Lodge, Kincardine on Mar. 4, 1993, in her 75th year. She was a member of the Donnybrooke United Church. The fonner Alice Thornton was born in Morris Township, on Sep- tember 19, 1918. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Peacock) Thornton. Mrs. Jefferson is survived by four daughters: Louise and her husband Happy 20th Birthday Janine Helm March 1 5th Murray .Wilson, Nile; Mary Jefferson of Guelph; Sharron and her. husband Burt Robinson of Lorne Beach; Linda and her hus- band Gene Kotack of Mississauga. She is also survived by two sis- ters, Elsie Smith of Bluevale and Eunice Marshall of Listowel, and a brother Wilson Thornton of Bluevale; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Jefferson was predeceased by her hustannd Hilliard (Pete) Jefferson in 1990, and a son Robert Jefferson in 1990. Visitation was at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow from where the service was conducted on Mar. 6, at 11 a.m. Rev. 0. Bogart and Rev. G. Bogart officiated. A grandson Greg Wilson was soloist. Two granddaughters, Heather and Theresa Jefferson, acted as flower bearers. Pallbearers were Murray Wilson, Burt Robinson, Gene Kotack, Craig Jefferson, Darryl Wilson and Scott Wilson.
