Atom A's take series in
exciting final game
On Feb. 22, the Lucknow Atom
A's travelled to Teeswater for the
fifth game of the play-off series.
Adam Cameron took his turn in net
for Lucknow. With two wins and a
tie, Lucknow was ahead with five
points to Teeswater's three and
could win the series with a tie.
Mark Stanley scored the only goal
of the first period, assisted by
Jordan Hamilton and Rob McGee.
Teeswater tied the game in the
second and with an early goal in
the third went into the lead.
Rob McGee tied the game when
his blistering slap -shot was past the
goalie before he could see it,
assisted by Stanley. Hantilton put
Lucknow back into the lead with a
tip -in, assisted by McGee and Stan-
ley.
Again Teeswater tied the game
but with an empty net goal by
Stanley and McGee at the 25 sec-
. and mark, it looked good for
Lucknow, only to have Teeswater
score with four seconds remaining
. "-to send the game into overtime.
John VanDiepenbeek's goal,
assisted by Jeff Andrew regained
the lead. Teeswater came back to
tie the game but the second empty
net goal of the game, this one ,by
McGee assisted by Hamilton and
Dennis- Andrew, earned Lucknow
the series with a 6 to 5 win.
Howick vs Lucknow
On Friday, Lucknow proved to be
generous hosts as they played
Howick in the first game of their
next series.
Lueknow opened the scoring late
in the first period, with a goal by
Jeff Andrew, assisted by John
VanDiepenbeek and Nick. -Mann.
Mark Stanley, assisted by Jordan
Hamilton and Rob McGee added to'
the score, but two goals by Howick
left the game tied at the end of the
second.
In the third, Dennis Andrew's
shot from the point, assisted by
Stanley and Jeff Andrew was
Lucknow's only goal while Howick
scored three.
Final score Howick 5, Lucknow
3.
Lucknow's next' home game will
be on Friday night at 7:00.

itchison scores hat trick
The Pee Wee house league team
took to the ice Feb. 28, as hosts to
Ripley.
In the first period the t..,,u played
steady end-to-end hug tiL.. Daryl
Aitchison opened the scoring on a
pass from Jeff Cranston. Ripley
replied with a goal to tie the game.
J. J. Humphrey saw his chance to
net one at the 7:51 , mark when
Taylor Mali fed him the puck.
Again Ripley tied the game up.
Aitchison beat the Ripley goalie
with a go ahead goal. Before the
period was over Ripley made it 3-3.
The second period belonged to
Ripley . as they bombarded
Lucknow's net with four goals to

go ahead 7-3.
Midway through the third
Lueknow made a come back when
Aitchison scored his hat trick with
help from winger Richard Walke.
Ryan Hackett fired on past the
Ripley goalie on a pass from J. J.
Humphrey.
The game was put out of reach
when Ripley responded with two
more markers to win the game -9-5.

Bantam A's win
Teeswater series
The third game of the Bantam
"A" series was played in Teeswater
on Feb. 22. Going into , this third
game Lucknow Was leading the
series by one win and a tie.
The first period saw Teeswater
jump onto the scoreboard and
Lucknow's Steve Clarancb quickly
tied the game, assisted by Stuart
Rintoul and Jeff Porter.
Lucknow added a go ahead
marker when Porter scored on a
deflection in front of the net.
Lucknow picked up the pace of the
game and tried to add another but
Teeswater was able to control the
paly to add another goal and tie the
game at the end of the first period.
In the second period Lucknow
stormed out onto the ice and added
four goals to'take a 6-3 lead. The
marksmen in the second period
were Jeff Porter from Steve
Clarence; Porter from Kevin
Rintoul and' Ed Courtney. This goal
gave Jeff another hat trick for the
playoff season. Chad Moffat scored
from Doug MacDonald and Glenn
Ferguson. In less than one minute
Ed Courtney added another insur-
ance goal, assisted by Porter and
Andrew Cleland. The second period
closed with Lucknow leading 6-3.
Teeswater tried desperately to get
back into the game in the third
period, but solid goal tending by
Mark Chilton combined with good
back -checking and solid defence by
the Lucknow team saw Lucknow
maintain their three goal lead to
close the game 6-3.
This ended .the first round of
playoffs. Lucknow played well
throughout, despite the absence of
Eric Andrew and David Adams
since January and Trevor Moffat
and Ryan Courtney for the third
game. Colin Becker, Andrew
Cleland and Ed Courtney have
added strength to the lineup for this
series. The Bantam A's are waiting
on the next round of playoffs.

Atom B's meet Wingham
On Feb. 23, the Lueknow Novice
"A" journeyed to Drayton for the
'first game of the best of five series.
Both teams played' a scoreless
first period. Drayton scored two
goals in the second period to lead
2-0 after two periods.
In the third period Russell. Mann
and Jason Pentland both scored
unassisted to tie the game at 2-2.
At the 8:30 mark of the third
period Drayton scored the winning
goal to lead the series one game to
none.
Game two
On Feb. 25, Lucknow hosted
Drayton for game two of their
playoff series.
Once again the first period was
scoreless. In the second period
Devin. Petteplace scored from
Russell Mann at the 8:16 mark to
take a 1-0 lead after two periods.
In the third period Drayton tied it
up at the 13:27 mark. Drayton took
a 2-1 lead in the third period with
10 minutes to go. Rickey Andrew
on assists from Petteplace and Tyler
Hamilton fired the puck in to top
corner to tie the game at 2-2.
Petteplace scored the winner on an
assist from Mann to give Lueknow
a 3-2 win and tie the series at one
game apiece.
Game three
On Saturday Lucknow travelled to
Drayton for game three of the.
series. In the first period Drayton
scored two goals to go. ahead 2-0.
Lucknow's Dan McDonagh
scored from Jeff McNee to cut the
lead to 2-1 and shortly after Russell
Mann scored assisted by Devin
Petteplace to tie the game 2-2 at the
end of one period.
There was no. scoring in the sec
and period. In the third period
Drayton scored the winner to make
the final score Drayton 3, Lucknow
2. Drayton led the series two games
to one going back to Lucknow for
game four:
Game four
On Sunday Lucknow' hosted,

Drayton for game four. Drayton led
1-0 after one period of play.
In the second period Drayton
scored at the 5:16 mark to take a 2-
0 lead. Brian Stanley scored from
Russell Mann and Rickey Andrew
at the 2:43 mark to cut the lead to
2-1. Before the second period ended
Drayton scored two quick goals to
lead 4-1 after two periods. Drayton
scored three more goals in the third
period to:win going away 7-1 and
win the Series three games to one.
Bantam B's
explode in
playoff action
The Lucknow Bantam "B" team
recently survived a very rough.
regular season and have sparked
themselves to three "excellent"
playoff games.
In game one of their round robin
playoffs, Lucknow came up with a
4-3 victory over Mount Forest.
Goal scorers for the game were
Mike Johnston, Luke Sproul and Ed
Courtney with two for the night.
Game two played in Palmerston
was a hard fought a game with
Lucknow losing by a very close 1-0
score. This game ended with a
small battle erupting which resulted
in expulsion for five Lucknow
players and six Palmerston players.
Game three saw the Palmerston
(Minto) team return to Lucknow for
a rematch. With eight skaters,
Lucknow played a full game to.
come off with a 4-2 win.
Goals for the game came from Ed
Courtney, Luke Sproul and Mike
Menary with two.
Everyone played a big part in this
win with strong goaltending by
Tyler Brooks.
