History book committee meets
The West./ Wawanosh History
Book Committee held a meeting at
the Dungannon Seniors' Hall on
Feb. 22, for volunteers who will be
assisting in the collection of infor-
mation pertaining to the village of
Dungannon.
Under the direction of Rhea
Hamilton -Seeger, four residents met
to receive forms for distribution
throughout the community. Helping
in this venture are Dawn Tucker,
Jean Errington, Bill Errington,
Penny Hodge, Bernice Glenn,
Teresa Courtney and Sandra
D' Aoust.
One of these folks will be calling
on you with a letter of explanation.
Any historical information, personal
history of your property or any
other township history that you may
have, plus pictures, t newspaper
clippings, etc., would all be grate-
fully appreciated. Please, take a few
minutes, make some notes and then
call your contact person, who
delivered yourletter, to make
arrangements for delivery or pick
up.
Due to the inclement weather last
Wednesday, the regular euchre
party was cancelled. On Mar. 3, at
2 p.m. the monthly business meet-
ing will be held. The card party will
be held at the regular time that
evening,
Comings and goings
-We are sorry to report that
Deloris Culbert has suffered another
fall and has injured her good leg
this time. She has been released
from Wingham Hospital and. is
currently staying with family close
to the hospital. Take it easy, Deloris
and please stay off the ice.
Visitors with Gilbert and Anne
Millar have been Anne's sister
Dby Sandra D'Aoust
Maisie and Ian Taylor, Maisie's
daughter Elizabeth and Jonathan
$orland and son Brian, • and
Maisie's granddaughter Jade Taylor.
This group of family members
journeyed to Canada from Ayr, on
the west coast of Scotland.
While in Canada, the group
motored to Niagara Falls and then
on to the Smokey Mountains and
Florida for two weeks.
Upon their return to Dungannon,
they found the snowy conditions
not much to their liking, so they
returned to Toronto to be close to
the airport.
Anne's daughter, Agnes Pinkney
of Walton assisted with the accom-
modations for the group. We hope
you enjoyed your stay folks, and
plan to return to our beautiful coun-
try in the future.
Joe Courtney of Dungannon, son
Gary Courtney and friend Jim
Dickson, both of Blyth just returned
from a -six day extensive tour of
some of the United States. The trip
away saw the three. men travel
through the states of Michigan,
Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and
Kansas, as far as the Oklahoma -
Texas border. The return trip
brought them back through
Missouri and Indiana, spending
Saturday night in Jackson,
Michigan. k
Joe spent Saturday night at the
home of his sister, Marie Courtney -
Judge. Gary and Jim visited •with
Joe and Betty Judge, also of
UNGANNON
Jackson. This travelling threesome
returned home late Sunday after-
noon, having driven over 3000
miles in six days.
While Joe was away, Teresa had
the pleasure of staying overnight
with neighbour Evelyn Errington.
Church news
The service of worship this week
at Dungannon United Church was
under the leadership of Rev. Orilla
Bogart with Bernice Gross as
organist.
The sermon text was taken from
Matthew 4: verses 1-11, which tells
of how the devil tempted Jesus
three times. After having been
rebuked by Jesus the third time, the
devil left Him alone and departed.
from Him..Temptation is not a sin.
It is how we handle the temptation
when it comes into our lives. Jesus
stood His ground, and did not give
in and the devil left.
Any news? Please give me a call
at 529-7390. Thanks.
