recently returned from a month's
holiday in Varadero, Cuba: They
report an excellent vacation and
exceptionally wonderful people with
whom they made a lot of new
friends. •
Mr. & Mrs. Ron Brooks left on.
• Feb. 13 for a week on a Caribbean
cruise. Their son Rob is doing their
chores while they are away.
Little Geoffrey Lamon spend a
few days last week visiting with his
grandmother in , Chesley and also
visited relatives in Cambridge.

deepest . sympathy to Freda
Maclnnes and family on the sudden
passing of Leonard of Lucknow.
Freda and . Leonard and family
farmed for many years on the sec-
ond of Kinloss. The fare is now
owned, by Mr. Middelbrook. •
John MacKay
has a happy
birthday
Feb. 13 at the Aslifield Presby-
terian
resbyterian Church was an enjoyable
afternoon when friends and family
gathered to wish John MacKay of
Kintail a happy 85th birthday.
Among those attending were his
brother Duncan of Goderich, nep-
hew John and Christine and sons
from London, and his niece..Barbara
of Hamilton.
A highlight of the afternoon was
when John played the bagpipes,
much to the. delight of his uncle
John.
Gladys Moon returned home after
spending three weeks in ,Flawaii.
She reports enjoying great weather
and seeing all the sights.
Congratulations and birthday
wishes go out this week to Donalda
Ritchie who will,be celebrating her
,80th birthday on Mar. 1.
Also celebrating a birthday this
week is Sadie Hamilton of Pinecrest
Manor who will be 92 on Feb: 24.

Funeral Home for George Kennedy,
formerly a well-known farmer on
Highway 86 east of Lucknow. After

DEVELOPMENT CHARGES BY-LAW
AFFECTING THE TOWNSHIP OF ASHFIELD
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation •of the
Township of Ashfield will hold a public meeting on TUESDAY,
MARCH 23, 1993 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ashfield Township
Council Chamber, R.R. #7, Lucknow, Ontario NOG 2H0 (Huron'
County Road 20), to consider the passing of a Development
Charges By-law under Section 4 of the Development Charges
Act, 1989.
The proposed By-law would permit the Township of Ashfield
to levy a Five Hundred Dollar (5500.00) Development Charge
on new residential development in the municipality. The pur-
pose of this Development Charge is to defray expenses the
municipality would incur due to new development. The pro-
posed By-law would replace the Lot Levy previously charged
on building Tots in the subdivisions its the Township.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make
written or verbal 'representation either in support of or in
opposition to the proposed By-law.

Kinloss councillor talks
about whys to recycle
Allene Bradley was° hostess for
the Kinloss Kairshea• Institute meet-
ing on Feb. 18. Mary Lavis and
Maimie Roulston assisted the host-
ess by serving dessert.
The meeting was opened in the
usual way with Mrs. Roulston pre-
siding and reading a poem Catching
a Ball the Next Day.
June Gilchrist read the scripture.
The minutes and treasurer's report
were received and several pieces of
business dealt with. •
The 12 members present
answered rollcall by stating what
they were doing to start recycling in
the kitchen.
Ann MacDougall read two news-
paper articles - India says no to
having a MacDonald restaurant, and
Roll back the clock.
Guest speaker was Erlma
Haldenby, a Kinloss Township
councilor, who gave an interesting
and informative presentation on
Kinloss recycling and waste man-
agement. Kinloss Township became
a contributor to the Bruce Area
Recycling on Oct. 19.
Mrs. Haldenby described the four
r's - refuse, reuse, reduce and
recycle. Members discussed how
they can participate in each of the
four r's, how to conserve water and
preventwater contamination,
Each lady was provided with a
sheet with various cleaners that can
be made and used, and that will not
contaminate the environment.
Muriel MacKenzie conducted a
contest on safety knowledge.
Mrs. Lavis gave a humorous
reading - A Barn Yard Meeting.

were sung with the residents partici-
pating.

their violins accompanied by Elsie.

Grace and Elsie played an instru-.
mental on the piano.
The meeting closed with Alice
reading The Road to Love.
