Murray Stephen Haigh
Murray s' Stephen Haigh, of
Toront9, died• suddenly in Mexico
on January. 26, 1993 at the age of
46, Mr. Haigh was a graduate of
the University of Guelph and was a
Landscape Architect.
At the time of his death he was
on a three-month working stint in
Mexico.
He is survived ,by his mother
Alma Gibson of Vancouver, B.C.,
and father Douglas Haigh of Rich-
mond, B.C., his two sisters Linda
Stebbing of Delta, B.C. and Janice
Carter of Port McNeil, B.C.
Mr. Haigh was predeceased by his
maternal grandparents Ewart and
Jean McKeith of Vancouver, and
formerly of Ashfield. Jean was a
sister of the late Grace Farrish,
Jessie Maclntyre, Noble and Wm. J.
Johnston of this area.
• Cremation in Mexico. A memorial
service was held in Toronto on.
. February 20, 1993.
Gertrude Jones
Gertrude (Orc ``'d) Jones, former-
ly of Thorndale, died at the
Kingsway Lodge Nursing Home, St.
Marys, on Feb. 8, 1993, -in her 88th
year.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her
children, Lenore McGill of R.R. 2,
Thorndale, Douglas and his wife,
Mary of Thorndale,• and Barry and
his wife Betty, of Amberley.
She also leaves to mourn her
.brother Stanley Orchard of
Thomdale, seven grandchildren and
six great grandchildren.
Friends called at the Harland B.
Betzner Funeral Home, Thamesford
where the service washeld on Feb.
11, with Rev. Sheila MacGregor
officiating.
Pallbearers were . Clare Orchard,
Rea Jones, Wayne Murrell, Stephen
Jones, Ryan Jones and Dale McGill.
Flower bearers were Johnathan
Jones, Lisa Kilgour, Lori Kilgour.

etery, Thamesford.
Gordon Jewitt
Gordon Jewitt, of Pinecrest Manor
Nursing. Home, Lucknow, died at
Winghatn and District Hospital, on
Feb. 21, 1993 in his 89th year.
He was born in Lucknow on Feb.
.16, 1905, a son of .the late Annie
and. William Jewitt. • .
Mr. JeWin leaves to mourn his
passing a sister, Mary Loth of
Lucknow, and several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife
Kaselta Waechter, one sister and
one brother.
Visitation was at the Edward
Good Funeral Home, Waterloo,
from where the funeral was con-
ducted on Feb, 23 by Rev. Grant
MacDonald.
Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
George Kennedy
George Kennedy of Seaforth
Manor Nursing Home died there on
Feb. 16, 1993 in his 91 sf year. He
was a former resident of Goderich,
and West Wawanosh Township
where he farmed for until his retire-
ment.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of
Knox Presbyterian Church,
Goderich and the Old Light Lodge
#184. •
. Born in West Wawanosh Town-
ship on January 19, 1903, he was a
son of the late David and Jane
(Fisher) Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy
was the last surviving member of
his family.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his
wife, the former Olive Robb, who
resides at the Seaforth Manor Nurs-
ing Home, and two sons, Biu of -
Toronto,. and Jack of Stoney Creek.
He was predeceased by his
brothers and sisters Alex, David,
John, ' William, Peter, Agnes,
Duncan, Annie and Jean.
Rev. Bill Henderson conducted
the funeral at the MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow
on Feb. 19.

Ethel Gawley
Ethel Gawley, of Malcolm Place,
Kincardine and formerly of Ripley
died at the Kincardine hospital on
Feb. 20, 1993 at the age of 95
Yom,
Miss Gawley was a retired school
teacher and a member of the St.
Andrew's United Church, Ripley.

Robertson of R.R. 5, Kincardine;
Marlene and Dewayne •Greig of
R.R. 5, Lucknow; Gladys and Barry
Johnston, of R.R. 3 Holyrood; and
Bob Gawley, of British Columbia.
She was predeceased by her par-

Lucknow WI donates $40
to agricultural society
The Lucknow Women's Institute
met on Feb. 9 with Susan
McNaughton, -Stella Tilbrook and
Mabel Whitby as hostesses.
The meeting opened in the usual
way with Mabel Whitby presiding.
.She read a poem Home is Where
the Heart is.
The minutes were read and the
correspondence dealt with. A $40
donation as made to the Agricul-
tural Society..
Rollcall was answered by naming
a healthy food.
Stella Tilbrook was in charge of
the program and gave a humorous
reading. Bemadean Ritchie gave .a
reading about Vandalism. -Kay
McIntosh played some Scotch
pieces. Mrs. Tilbrook gave several
home remedies and cleaners using
usual things we have in the house.
Various contests were enjoyed.

will host
World Day of
Prayer _ too
The World Day of Prayer services
will be hosted by St. Joseph's
Church at Kingsbridge on Friday,
Mar. 5, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The
theme "God's People: Instruments
of Healing" was written by the
women of Guatemala. Canadians
are invited to join in solidarity with
Guatemala as people all around the
world pray for connection with the
refugees, homeless, drug abusers
and people with AIDS in .their
midst. ,
On the first Friday of March each
year, people in over 70 countries
participate in a common service in
their. own locality. The offerings
from the services are used to pro-
vide study and worship resources,
to cover cost of printing and distrib-
uting the services. and .to support
ecumenical projects. in Canada and
abroad.

Day of Prayer -services at
Kingsbridge 'are North Ashfield,
Port Albert, Trinity, Dungannon,
Nile, Donnybrook., St. Augustine
