Irma MacDonald was the.. hostess. President Wilda Thompson was unable to attend so Fran Farrell presided. Lillian Abbott presented a sou- venir 1992 coin collection to Edna Stanley on behalf of the Royal Bank. Edna had the highest num- ber of points at the Flower Show. Bette MacLeod was in charge of the program, reading a Valentine's Poem and conducting some interest- ing contests. She also gave out many gardening tips. Doris Rock displayed some of her lovely Afri- on Violets and told the members how she cared for an propagated them. The ladies of the Villa served a tasty lunch. The March meeting will be held at Marie Colling's home. CPR Course The Ripley -Huron fire department is holding a CPR course for inter- ested persons on Mar. 13 beginning at 9 a.m. They need approximately 10-15 people to run the course. Anyone interested is asked to call Bill Robinson at 395-2624 for fur- ther information. Mini Carnival The Ripley -Huron Figure Skating Club held their carnival on Feb. 21 at the Ripley -Huron Complex. Friends and relatives filled the bleachers to watch the performances of the many *niers belonging to the Ripley -Huron Club. Amateur coaches Donna Fitzgerald, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Jolene Dewar, Christina Farrell, Jennifer Bolton, Jill Aitchison, Rachel Forster, Jessica Forster and Linda Shantz led their groups through various activities that their pupils learn throughout the year. Dances were demonstratedby the skaters. The Dutch Waltz was performed by Crystal Mallory, Corrine France, Jennifer Bolton, and Lisa Hutchinson. The Canasta Tango was demonstrated by Lesley Johnston, Melanie Hains, Carmen Farrell, and Christina Farrell. Cathy Middlekamp, Jill Aitchison, - Rachel Forster and Jessica Forster performed the Baby Blues. The .Junior Bronze Swing was done by Anne Yungblut and Sarah Culbert. The Senior Bronze Fourteen Step was demonstrated by Jennifer Fitzgerald, the Junior Silver Rocker was performed by Jolene Dewar, the Senior Silver Blues was demon- strated by Linda Shantz and the Gold Quickstep was done by Lee Ann Cronshaw. Guests skaters were Jeff Wiseman, Kelly Enright, and Jenny MacKay. Ripley skaters performing solos were Jennifer Pollard, Anne Yungblut, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Linda Shantz, Jolene Dewar, Kara Colling and Lee Ann Cronshaw. Ripley -Huron Ringette Novice The Ripley girls hosted Hanover on Feb. 18 and were defeated 8-1. Ripley's lone goal was scored by Carla Somogyvary assisted by Kristen Johnson and Candice vapderHoek. Katie O'Byrne played a good game in net stopping numer- ous attempts from. the Hanover players. Petite • The petite hosted Goderich on Feb. 15 and skated to a 4-3 defeat. Denise Rintoul tallied a pair of goals assisted by Kerri Shewfelt and Janine Farrell. Jami Mitchell scored a single goal on a pass from Krista Armstrong.and Kristy Edey. Stacy Elliott played a good game in net. This team hosted Tiverton on Feb. 20 and ,were defeated 6-1. Ripley's lone goal was scored by Shannon Walden on a pass from Jami Mitchell and Krista Armstrong. Ripley travelled to Lucknow on Feb. 21 and trounced their hosts 19- 2. Stacy Elliott and Denise Rintoul led the attack scoring four goals each. A pair of goals were tallied by Meredith Bowers, Kerry Shewfelt, Jaime Mitchell and Shannon Walden. Angie O'Handley, Pam Geddes and Krista Armstrong each scored a single goal. Setting up these goals were Janine Farrell and Erin Armstrong. Rachel MacKay played a great game in net. Tween The Ripley Tween team hosted Howick in their last regularseason play. They trounced their oppo- nents 8-3. Reagan Courtney played an outstanding game tallying five goals. Carolyn Gattinger scored a pair of goals and a single was tallied by Lindsay McLelland, Raining assists were Erin Rintoul, Danielle, Murray and Natalie Davidson. Sarah MacKay played a strong game in net. This team is participating in the preliminary provincial "A" games this weekend held in Belmore. Ripley is representing the Grey - Bruce Ringette Association. They will be meeting the top three teams from the other districts in Western Region Ringette. We wish the team good luck in their endeavours. Junior The Ripley Juniors hosted Tiverton on Feb. 11 and were defeated narrowly by an 11-8 score. Sarah Farrell played a strong game tallying a hat trick. Larissa Brooks and Shantel Irwin each scored. a pair of goals and Kristy McGillivray scored a single goal. Kathy Goodhue played a - good game in net for Ripley. Student preaches in Anglican parish Brad Beale, a first year student in theology' at Huron College, London, had a three day stay in the Anglican Parish of Lucknow, Ripley - and Kinlough. He is a brilliant student and loved the rural area and preached in all three churches on Sunday. Some of us were privileged to. have him visit in our home, to hear about his life and his call from God to the Christian ministry. We wish him much success. Friday evening was the Legion public speakoff. Parents and pupils from this area attended. Our best to the young folks. You are all win- ners, Pearl Lloyd of Bracebridge, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lloyd, of London, visited with Edna and May Boyle. Pearl came to London especially for the festivities that were put on at the time of Ivan's retirement -from Kby May Boyle Ontario Hydro. Nina McDonald and her grand- daughter Heather MacDonald, and Mr, and Mrs. Bert Thompson of Teeswater visited with Dr. and Mrs,' Mac MacDonald at Kincardine. Mr. and Mrs. Art Breckles and Vanessa returned home after a nice winter holiday.' • We extend sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith in the death of Betty's grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Dunlop of Kincardine at the age of 99 years. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Moon visited at Tara on Thursday with relatives. Kinlough RIMS Thi Kinlough Presbyterian WMS INLOUGH Torontonictns visit in Barbara Brown and son of Toronto are visiting with her mother, Isobel Brooks. The weather reduced the crowd at the card party Wednesday night but those who were there had a good time. The next party will . be on Wednesday, Mar. 3 at 8:15. Everyone is pleased to see Aurel Armstrong home from the hospital. Gladys Arnold enjoyed tea with Isobel Brooks. - Francis and Irene Boyle spent the weekend in Niagara region and Toronto. Heather, Grant and Christine Clifford visited their aunt, Gayle Bersey, in Sarnia for the weekend. Happy 18th birthday to Kelly McGillivray who reached that magic number an Saturday. The sympathy of the community is extended to the relatives of Ethel Gawley who passed away at the age of 97. She will be remembered as PURPLE GROVE. being a real lady in the community. Glen Farrell visited John McKay 'on Saturday. Diane Larson and Tyler Walden were at the home of Jim and Fran Farrell last Saturday. Many from the Grove enjoyed the exhibition skating at the complex on Sunday. The young skaters performed very well. 1 The next Institute meeting will be on Mar. 3 at 1:30 in the Commun- ity Centre. John and Joyce Farrell had Sun- day dinner with Leonard and Carol Farrell. Theresa Farrell leaves on Mar. 1 for a three month student exchange stay in Germany. I.. met at the home of Joan Barr for the February meeting. President Isabel Thompson opened the meeting with a poem, and a prayer followed by a hymn. There were nine ladies present who answered the rollcall with the word love. Devotions were given by Barbara Bushell which included a scripture reading, hymn and a prayer all centred on the theme love. Business was conducted followed by the study book by Mrs. Thompson. All enjoyed an interest- ing discussion and question and answer period which they found very interesting and helpful. They learned the roll of old and new _Testament women and compared them with our present day women. The meeting closed and all repeated the Lord's prayer. the Grove Saturday night dinner guests with Bette McLeod were Marion Gamble and Mr. and. Mrs. Oraen Rock. Callers with Don and Anne McCosh were Fran Farrell, Mary Black, Joyce Farrell and girls. Thoughts and prayers are with Agnes Leason, of Elmira while she is ill. Mary Anne Kukoly spent two days at a workshop in Kitchener. At the international judo cham- pionships in Etobicoke, Meagan McDonald placed second. and Ian placed fourth. Congratulations to both. Mr. and Mrs. Wray Thompson of Toronto visited with Harvey and • Wilda Thompson. Wilda Thompson spent Tuesday at Presbytery in Tara. Bob and Judy Thompson have returned from an extended Cambean Cruise.
