Area clergy take part in
Sunday's ecumenical service'
The annual Ecumenical - Service
was held Sunday. evening in SL
Peter's Anglican church with Rev.
Linda Hill in charge. Rev. G.
McFarlane was the speaker for the
evening. Others assisting in the
-service were Rev. G. Bogart of
Dungannon, Rev, Peggy Kinsman,
Rev. Harry Reitzel and Pastor Ron
Luchies. At the close of the service
Rev. Hill gave recognition to Rev.
McFarlane for his service to the
community over the past few years.
Friday afternoon there was a
Valentine Party at Maple Breezes
when Gordon Wall's Old Time
Music of ,Wingham entertained the
residents there. Birthday greetings
go out to two of their residents who
are celebrating birthdays in Febru-
ary: Elizabeth Tiffin on the 15th
and Kitty Purves on the 26th. -
The Horticultural Society held a
very successful euchre party in the
Legion on Friday evening with
many prizes being presented.
Elsie Houston was pleasantly
surprised Monday morning to
receive a phone call from her son
J.J. in Hong Kong. He arrived there
ori Jan. 17 andis working with
United Chinese Plastics Int. Co.
' There is a 12 hour difference in
time so 'it was already Monday
evening there when he phoned.

Christensen.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Moon spent
the weekend at Cambridge.
Voice for Life
meet; pian for
banquet
The Wingham Voice for Life
Chapter met on Feb. 1.
Money is still 'coming in from
sales ofthe cookbook Food for
Life. The cost of the book is $7 and
they are Still available from various
merchants and board members.
It was agreed by board members
to update the Pm -Life pamphlets
and books available in local high
schools. Each of the five high
schools in the Huron County will
received a series of five hardback
books.
The annual banquet will be held
April 21, with guest speaker Jackie
Jeffs. ,

Kairshea institute put on their
annual Valentine party for the resi-
dents of Pinecrest Manor on Mon-
day afternoon.
Sadie MacMillan recently enjoyed
a two-week cruise in the Caribbean.
They started at Barbados and
visited 14 different islands before
returning to Barbados again.
Sincere sympathy is extended to
Freda MacInnes and other members
of the family in the passing , of
Leonard MacInnes in Wingham
Hospital last week.
There were eight tables of shoot
in play at the Drop in Centre last
Friday. High lady and gent were
Edna Young and Art Ernewein.
Low spots went to Rita Gilmore
and Wes Young, with Vera Purvis
having the most shoots.
During the card party sponsored
by the St. Helen's WI on Feb. 9,
Shirley Hackett and Donald Murray
were high players. In second high
spots were Isabel Kilpatrick and
Lorne Jamieson. Most shoots went
to Ross Taylor and Joe Courtney
had the nearest birthday to Valen-
tines.
Margaret Haldenby, of
Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home, celebrated her 95th
birthday on February 13. Mrs.
Haldenby was formerly of the

Bob Thompson of Ripley was the
$100 winner in the Ripley District
Lions Club cash calendar lottery
last week. $50 winners were Mike
Fischer, Lucknow;. Don Hodgins,
Ripley; Norval Pollock, Ripley;
Shari Harris, Kincardine; Elva
Needham, Ripley and Bev and
Marion Cliffe, Kincardine.
Leonard 'MacInnes
Leonard Maclnnes, of 435
Havelock Street, Lucknow, died on
Feb. 9, 1993 at Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital, in his 82nd year. Mr.
MacInnes was a retired farmer. He
was a member of the South Kinloss
Presbyterian Church.
Born on May 20;1911, in Kinloss
Township, Mr. Maclnnes was sora
of the late Malcolm and Euphemia
(MacKinnon) MacInnes.
He is survived by his wife the
former • Freda MacDougal, of
Lucknow, whom he married on July
3, 1943 at South Kinloss Presby-
terian Church,
Also left to mourn his passing are
three children, Jack and his wife
Lois MacInnes of Palmerston;
Malcolm and his wife Anne
MacInnes of R.R. 3, Holyrood, and
Hugh and his wife Diane MacInnes,
of Edmonton.
Mr: MacInnes. is also survived by
a • sister Katherine . Casemore of
Wingham, and . a brother Roy
MacInnes of Goderich.
He was predeceased by a sister
Mae, -and three brothers, Martine
Malcolm and Gordon. •

Florence Golden
Florence Golden died at Allan'
Park, Michigan, USA, on Feb. 4,
1993, in her 90th year.
She was born on July 7, 1903, on
the fourth concession of Kinloss
Township, a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. John MacDiarmid.
Mrs. Golden was predeceased by
two brothers Alex and Sam,, and
three sisters, Donalda (Mrs. Walter
MacKenzie), Margaret and Marion.

The Whitechurch Women's Insti-
tute .met on Feb. 10 at the home of
Catherine .Wilson. President
Marjorie Wall opened the meeting
in the usual way and followed with
a Valentine poem.
Mrs. Wilson was convenor for the
citizenship and legislation meeting,
using the n}6tto "you can preach a
better sermon with your life than'
your lips."
Rollcall was to name the country
your ancestors came from.
Jim Wilson played a few selec-
tions on his violin.
Guest . speaker was Kristine
Johnson of Teeswater who is one of
the many workers on the IPM '93
committee. She gave a splendid tack
on the work that goes into the
ladies rprogram at the match.
Jean Tiffin presented the minutes
and the collection was received.

showing that the church had a suc-
cessful year.
