The Professional Services Assist- ance Program will give farmers access to expert advice when finan- cial difficulty has been incurred. Funds will assist producers in obtaining professional services such as legal, accounting, financial and. stress counselling. ARM REPORT Learn about commodity loan program during this meeting 'An information meeting will be held to discuss the 1993 Agricul- tural Commodity Loan Program. This program provides an alterna- tive source of credit to farmers for the purchase of crop inputs. The meeting will be held at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food office in Clinton on Feb. 26, 1:00 p.m. Brian Hughes, Commod- ity Loan Program Manager, will provide an outline and the steps involved in the completion of the application. Eligible farmers can borrow up to a maximum of $400,000 based on the crops grown "and the level of crop insurance coverage taken. A-2 -percent loan hold back (refunded when a loan is repaid in full) and a 0.1 percent (non-refundable) default. contingency fee will be deducted from the approved loan amount. Interest at prime is charged on the entire approved loan amount. An administration fee of $300 to $600; depending on the loan amount, is required at the time of application. Loans .are available for the fol- lowing crops: corn, soybeans, win- ter wheat, spring wheat, barley, oats, mixed grain, canola, white beans, coloured beans, seed corn and potatoes. Repayment of the loan is Mar. 31, 1994 for seed corn; Oct. 31, 1993 for winter wheat and Feb. 28, 1994 for all other crops. Application forms should be available by the end of February. On Feb. 12, the Lucknow Atom A's started their group playoffs against Teeswater. Teeswater scored first but Jeff Andrew tied the game with Conor McDonagh and Nick Mann earning the assists. Lucknow did not play the kind of Novice A's start playoffs with shutout On Feb. 13, the Lucknow Novice A's travelled to Ripley to play their first game of the best of three series. Both teams played to a score- less first period. Devin Petteplace opened the scoring with an assist from Russell Mann.. Ricky Andrew scored an unassisted goal followed by Bob Raymond assisted by Tim Eadie to give Lucknow a 3-0 lead after two periods. With 31 seconds left m the game Mann scored from Petteplace to complete the scor- ing. Blue Wiens chalked up another shutout. Lucknow hosts Ripley on Feb. 18 for the second game of the series. StrGAig play by Novice B ends in tie Belmore On Feb. 6, Belmore Novice B visited Lucknow.
