You'll see the four huge tents housing the Lifestyles programs immediately if you enter the Match by the main gates. In a nutshell, the four tents are to house arts and crafts and quilts, fashions, food and a child care service, but those words only begin to tell the tale. A visit is the only guarantee and visitors will not be sorry. Right now, and of great import- ance, is the need to get' ivord out to interested crafters that the huge arts and crafts tent will accommodate 40 plus exhibitors. If readers are interested in exhibiting and selling their fine crafts for the week of the IPM, it is imperative they contact Marie Meuser at 389-5161 right away. Applications must be made by mid-February. Although many crafters have shown interest, Marie Meuser is still seeking the very best of Skilled crafters and would be more than. happy to consider new applicants, Ks tithe is already putting pres- sure on organizers, it is important' to make that phone call within the next week to ten `days. Catherine Grubb of Mildmay, who chairs the quilt committee, is busy accepting applications too, in this case for the carious categories in the Lifestyles quthing competi- tion. • There is no doubt in the minds of visitors to local _quilt shows anti fairs that we, in Western Ontario, have produced some of the forest quilters in the land. The IPM is an opportunity for visitors from across Canada to see just how talented Western Ontario quilters are. This is no time to be shy. If you have a quilter out there in your family who produces those heir- 109ms we ,all treasure - and the envy of city cousins, encourage her to contact Catherine' Grubb at 367- 2478 to enter one or more of the• categories in the 1PM Quilt compe- tition. All quilts and blocks and wall hangings produced for the competi- tion will be on display at the quilt sh'bw during Homecoming Weekend in Mildmay, over the August 1 weekend thin summer. 4-H project will involve members in plowing match 4-H members from across Bruce County will be deciding on the 4-11 program's involvement in the 1993 International Plowing Match to be held near Walkerton September 21- 25, 1993. This is a pilot project for Bruce County in which 4-H mem- bers will be at the Plowing Match to implement the plans they have made. To co-ordinate the activities of the clubs in each community, a county wide meeting will be held. 4-H members will receive credit for two 4-1-1 projects. There are six county wide meetings, six club meetings in the home community, the ,actual Plowing Match, and a final wrap up of the pilot project. The project is an opportunity for 4- H members to make new friends, have some fun, feel that they are part of the International Plowing Match and learn leadership skills. An advisory committee of 4-H members and leaders are making decisions about how the project can be best offered. They see the 4-H Match Making Club as a way of increasing the profile of 4-11 within the county and to visitors from other areas. 4-H Match Making Clubs are forniing now in various commun- ities. The first county wide meeting will be Tuesday, March 2nd. Young people and adults interested in becoming involved should contact Sharon Weber (881-0016) or the Walkerton OMAF office (1-800- 265-3023 or 881-3301) for the club closest to them. This is truely a. "Learn To Do By Doing" project. The advisory com- mittee and the members will be learning ey plan for the Inter- national Plowr Match. Fifteen attend card party Susan Pnt:hard of London visited on Saturday -with 'Mildred McClenaghan. Wayne Farrier of Guelph visited Thursday with his mother Agnes Farrier. " The village card party was held on 'Tuesday evening at the home of Mildred McClenaghan with 15 present. High lady was Kathy Gibson, high man Murray 'Simpson: Next party. is February 16 at 8 p.m. at the home of Don. and Jean Ross. Anyone interested in a night of fun in the village is welcome. Chalmers Presbyterian Church Chalmers Presbyterian Church held their annual meeting January 23 at 2 p.m, in the church base- ment. Rev. Albert Cook was chairman and Archie Purdon secretary for the afternoon. Reports were all accepted. Murray Simpson was added to the trustees board along with Elroy Laidlaw and Don Ross. Clerk of session is Archie Purdon replacing Walter Elliott. Whitechurch UCW • The' Whitechurch . UCW .ladies held their February meeting on February 3 at 2 p.m. in the home of Agnes Farrier with dessert served prior to the meeting. The topic was world outreach. Mrs. Farrier opened with the aim and purpose of the UCW women. Hazel Laidlaw conducted the Bible study from Daniel 1,2,3. Mildred McClenaghan read a poem called A Place to Grow in Love. Margaret Sleightholm read an article called A Community Effort for a Hungry World. An article was read by Mrs. Far- rier on a visit from the Kenyon Africa people. Evelyn Gibb gave the financial report. Agnes led in the offertory prayer. HAVE AN OPINION?
