Calling all Bruce County crafters ,
Enthusiasni is high in the Family
Lifestyles Do, ision of the IPM
which will open to the thousands of
expected visitors on September 21
near Walkerton and will'run until
Saturday, September 25.
You'll see the four huge tents
housing the Lifestyles programs
immediately if you enter the Match
by the main gates.
In a nutshell, the four tents are to
house arts and crafts and quilts,
fashions, food and a child care
service, but those words only begin
to tell the tale. A visit is the only
guarantee and visitors will not be
sorry.
Right now, and of great import-
ance, is the need to get' ivord out to
interested crafters that the huge arts
and crafts tent will accommodate 40
plus exhibitors.
If readers are interested in
exhibiting and selling their fine
crafts for the week of the IPM, it is
imperative they contact Marie
Meuser at 389-5161 right away.
Applications must be made by
mid-February. Although many
crafters have shown interest, Marie
Meuser is still seeking the very best
of Skilled crafters and would be
more than. happy to consider new
applicants,
Ks tithe is already putting pres-
sure on organizers, it is important'
to make that phone call within the
next week to ten `days.
Catherine Grubb of Mildmay,
who chairs the quilt committee, is
busy accepting applications too, in
this case for the carious categories
in the Lifestyles quthing competi-
tion.
• There is no doubt in the minds of
visitors to local _quilt shows anti
fairs that we, in Western Ontario,
have produced some of the forest
quilters in the land. The IPM is an
opportunity for visitors from across
Canada to see just how talented
Western Ontario quilters are.
This is no time to be shy. If you
have a quilter out there in your
family who produces those heir-
109ms we ,all treasure - and the
envy of city cousins, encourage her
to contact Catherine' Grubb at 367-
2478 to enter one or more of the•
categories in the 1PM Quilt compe-
tition.
All quilts and blocks and wall
hangings produced for the competi-
tion will be on display at the quilt
sh'bw during Homecoming Weekend
in Mildmay, over the August 1
weekend thin summer.
4-H project will involve
members in plowing match
4-H members from across Bruce
County will be deciding on the 4-11
program's involvement in the 1993
International Plowing Match to be
held near Walkerton September 21-
25, 1993. This is a pilot project for
Bruce County in which 4-H mem-
bers will be at the Plowing Match
to implement the plans they have
made. To co-ordinate the activities
of the clubs in each community, a
county wide meeting will be held.
4-H members will receive credit
for two 4-1-1 projects. There are six
county wide meetings, six club
meetings in the home community,
the ,actual Plowing Match, and a
final wrap up of the pilot project.
The project is an opportunity for 4-
H members to make new friends,
have some fun, feel that they are
part of the International Plowing
Match and learn leadership skills.
An advisory committee of 4-H
members and leaders are making
decisions about how the project can
be best offered. They see the 4-H
Match Making Club as a way of
increasing the profile of 4-11 within
the county and to visitors from
other areas.

ities. The first county wide meeting
will be Tuesday, March 2nd. Young
