Delegation asks council
to consider paving road
A delegation of 11 residents, from
the 10th concession of Ashfield
Township, attended the council
meeting on February 2 to draw
council's attention to the condition
of the east end of the concession.
They expressed that traffic volume
on the road should warrant addi-
tional maintenance, specifically on
the section from Lanes to Belfast.
The delegation urged council to
consider the paving of that section
and to incorporate the costs into the
roads budget within the next couple
of years.
Council stated that road funds for
1993 were committed to the com-
pletion of the Port Albert bridge
and related road construction pend-
ing grant commitments from the
Ministry of Transportation. Upon
completion of that project, council
stated that they would be willing to
consider -the possibility of paving if
funding becomes available.
A request from Wheels Away for
funding to offset outstanding oper-
ating expenses associated with
township residents using the pro-
gram was deferred pending receipt
of additional information.
Council endorsed the resolution of
the Township of Ramsay requesting
the province to assure that any
amendments to the Planning Act

posed joint recreation board's

the whole to discuss employee
remunerations.

services are excellent •
from page S'
He said specialized therapists in
Wingham and those using the hos-
pital provide excellent rehabilitation
services to the community.
Mr. Koch explained that he came.
to Wingham ' in part due to his
interest in becoming CEO oto a
community hospital. He had been
an assistantexecutive director pre-
viously ana wanted the opportunity
to be the primary force at a com-
munity hospital.
"I feel Wingham is a strong corn-
munity." Mr. Koch also pointed to
his own background of growing up .
in a rural area, and said he was
attracted to "coming back."
He was also interested in
Wingham because of the strength of
its specialist physicians. "The
clincher," he said, "was the quality
of the people on tile' (hospital)
board during the, interview." There
seems to be a strong community
ownership of the hospital, he said. '
Mr. Koch said he felt very wel-
come by the hospital staff and that
the has haat a good teshom to iiiMiies.
As to the future, Mr. Koch is
looking forwardto his family mov-
ing up from Dundas 'to join him in
Wingham this summer.
Mr. Koch said his wife is seeking
employment . as an elementary
teacher and that two of his children
are looking forward to moving to
Winghanm. His oldest daughter W11
remain in Dundas to complete the
last, four months of her OAC before
heading off to university.
Although it is hard to leave his.
old friends and neighbors, Mr.
Koch said, "We expect to find new
friends here," and noted he has
family in the area north of
Kitchener. -
Mr. Koch also plans to continue
his involvement with the 'larger'
community such as the Canadian
College of Health Service Execu-
tives and the African Medical
Research Foundation.
