tude and smile and her outstanding

DAS holds annual banquet
The Dungannon Agricultural
Society held its -,annual meeting on
January 26 at the Agricultural Hall.
Thirty members and friends
bowed their heads, prior to dinner
as guest speaker .Murray Gaunt
offered the blessing.
The business. portion of the meet-
ing got underway with. President
Duane Rivett outlining events for
the upcoming year
New business included a report
about plans for the Fair Weekend in
August. The possible construction
of a permanent tent type structure
on the Society grounds was also
discussed. -
A new concept this year is to
have each director head a commit-
tee for Fair Days. The director will
acquire his or her own personnel to
assist them in the planning stages
and prepare and submit a budget to
the Fair Board for approval. We're
calling on all local people to get
behind this project and make this
the best fair ever.
Ladies' president Bernice Glenn
regretfully announced that our Fair
Ambassador - Andrea 'manse - was
unable to attend the meeting. In her
place, Kelly McNee, gave a humor-
ous speech entitled Home Alone 3.
This narrative was based onthe
story of her brother Tim leaving for
college.
The guest speaker, Murray Gaunt,
reminisced about attending„ Fail
Fairs as a very young man in short
pants. He remembered that Eldon
Culbert was always at his post,
taking admission. fees 'from fair-
goers. The role of the Fall Fair has
not changed. It is to pull the com-
munity together, to work together
for the common good: Changes .in
programs have been made over the
years to help maintain the interest
of younger groups.
Congratulations were extended to
the president and executive of the
Fair Board for their fine work •in •
organizing this event each year.
President, Rivett .expressed the
gratitude of -the Society to Murray
Gaunt for attending and presented
him with a cheese and fruit basket.
The minutes of the 1992 annual
meeting and the .treasurer's report
were accepted by those present.
:The 1993 executive is as follows:
president - Duane Rivett;' vice presi-
dents. Bernard Boyle; ladies presi-
dent, Bernice Glenn; and secretary
treasurer, Karen Matheson.
