with their parents, Jim and Susan
McNaughton. Sunday, January 17
they all went to Kincardine for
dinner in honor of Jim and Susan's
58th wedding anniversary which
fell on January 18. Congratulations
from all your Lucknow friends and
neighbours.
On January 23, a small family
birthday party was held in the com-
mon room of the Sepoy Apartments
for family and friends of Mamie
Henderson, who was celebrating her
95th birthday that day.
Caroline Menary and Richard
Grant were high players . during
shoot play at the Drop in Centre on
January 22. Low positions went to
Ruth.• ---Thompson and Harold
Gardner, with Andy Scott taking the
most shoots.
Marion Gamble and Dorothy
Wardell` provided some musical
entertainment for the River Valley
apartment residents.

Hospital, weighing 7 lbs. 5 oz. She

Meagan Cameron was one of the Puddleduckers who celebrated
the Chinese New Year last week. Gloria and Richard Kwan of
Kwan's Restaurant donated a full course Chinese meal for the
children to enjoy. Meagan Is drinking her soup from the bowl

OPP charge Kinloss man
with firing: gun from road
A 36 -year-old Kinloss man has
been charged with firing a gun from
the roadway after trying to shoot a
wolf as it crossed County Road 6 in
Huron Township from one field to
another.
The shots were fired while the
man .was standing next .to his pick
up truck-, stopped at the side of the
road.
It was reported too- Kincardine
OPP by a Huron Township resident
on Jan. 20 who had parked on the
side of the road and saw it happen.
Staff Sergeant Al Neville said
hunters can't shoot from a vehicle,
on a roadway or across a.roadway..
Empty Drumstick wrappers have
been appearing in a Ripley variety
store but no one has paid for the ice
cream treats.
The manager of the store told
OPP he has found between 20 to 30
wrappers.
OPP are, investigating it as a theft
under $1,000.
On Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.. a Point
Clark woman was outside getting
her dog when she heard •glass
breaking. .
She found a window in their
garage had been broken but she
didn't see anyone -around.
OPP have no suspects and noth-
• ing could be found to indicate how
the window was broken.
A 12 -hour suspension was issued
by OPP on Jan. 22 after, a vehicle
was found in a ditch on Concession
2 of South Durham Road in
Kincardine Township.

Monday last,
Friends from our area attended
the visitation and funeral of the late
Hazel Stanley. Sympathy is
extended to her family ,at this time.

Sheri' and Ross . Myerscough and
children, Simon, Earl and Echo.
John enjoys having' a day at the
farm for a visit.

telephone Moves
The Huron and Kinloss telephone
have moved into their new
residence this past weekend. The
crew were busy moving their
equipment and supplies to the new
building on 60 Queen Street, on
Friday. Along with the new
residence their will be new business
hours to serve you better. They
will be open Monday to Friday 8:30
a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as during the
noon hour. There is also a drop off
box at the front entrance for your
convenience. The staff at Huron
and Kinloss Telephone hope to see

home from London during the week
as Stanley "Cooper, of Lucknow
who is a patient in University Hos-
pital is recovering after major sur-
gery.. Our best wishes Stanley.
Reg Powell, who has been a
patient in the Kincardine and Dis-
trict General . Hospital, returned
home . on Friday. We wish him
continued improvement. •
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barr visited on
Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs.
Don Gillespie.
Jack Barr and Mr. and Mrs. Terry
Burt went to Milton on Wednesday.
Judy Burt stayed with her mother
and Ellwood Storey took Jack and
Terry to Toronto to the farm show.
Volunteers will help police
bridge communication gap
Kincardine Police Services has
developed an ethnic resource list.
Chief Gerry Mann said the list is
"to provide us with assistance on
language and cultural matters."
The list is made up of nine people
who have volunteered to help the
police in situations where language
or cultural barriers may arise.
"Through these volunteers, we've
now increased our potential to
communicate in at least 15 different
languages," he said.
Among the languages the police
have access to are French, Greek,
Norwegian, Polish and •Spanish.
Police started seeking volunteers:
in December and. am willing to
accept any other volunteers inter-
ested in helping the police. •
Chief Mann said help from the
volunteers will be kept confidential.
