the show she was co -owned with
Wat-Cha Fan
Sam worked for the, company in
the fall of 1992 at many shows in
Ontario, Quebec and at the National
CharolaisShow at Agribition in
Regina, Saskatchewan.
Purchased as a 4-H calf in' the
spring of 1992, Air America (sire
Sentinel, dam Regal 46W) has an
impressive record. She was Grand
Champion Charolais at the
Teeswater Fall Fair, Grand Chatn-
pion 4-H Calf in Durham, Reserve
Grand Champion in the Ripley 4-H
Invitational, Junior Champion in
Montreal, Grand Champion Female
in Ottawa, Junior Reserve Cham-
pion at the Royal Winter Fair in
Toronto.
Wat-Cha Farms presently own Air
America's mother, grandmother and
great grandmother.
Sam himself has various credits to
his name including Grand Cham-
pion Showman in Montreal,.
Reserve Senior Showman - Knob
Hill Junior Heifer Show at the
Royal, and Senior Champion and
Reserve Grand Champion Showman
at the Agribition in Regina.

CURB Program
Grants Available
The CURB Program (Clean Up Rural Beaches) is
offering financial assistance to farmers and
homeowners for specified projects to improve
water quality in rivers and streams. Grants are
availablefor thesepair or rebuilding of private
septic systems, construction of manure storages,'
milkhouse waste water disposal systems, and to
fence livestock from watercourses.
Eligible Items Grant Rate Grant Ceiling
-manure storages 5094
-milkhouse waste disposal systems 50%
-fencing livestock from rivers .75%
-private septic systems 50%
This program is targeted at agricultural and
rural residential areas located upstream of
swimming beaches. Financial assistance is
limited to those applicants who are polluting
watercourses. Proposed projects with the
greatest potential for improving water quality
will be considered first 'for funding.

Karshea WI learns about Canadian Agra
• Maimie Roulston was hostess for
the January 17 meeting . of the
Karishea Women's Institute which
started with desserts served by
Roely . Vanderclippe and Alice
Doelinan. -�
Mrs. Roulston presided for the
Meeting opening in the usual way.
Allen Bradley offered the scripture
readings. Considerable business was
dealt•with. Plans were made for the
institute Valentine visit to Pinecrest
on February 15.
Twelve members answered
rollcall with a memory of a winter
experience.
Muriel MacKenzie gave an excel-
lent report for Canadian Industries.
It was an article written by .Jim
Romahn, farm writer for the
Kitchener Record. Mr. Romahn
recently travelled to Kincardine to
interview Douglas Fletcher,, the
president for the 14 companies that
make up the Canadian Agra Cor-
poration. This company is con-
trolled by the Sieber family -
Helmuth and his three sisters, who
emigrated from Austria and are now
Canadian citizens. It is unbelievable
all the companies that they have
planed to build in the next few
years, with the properties 'all
bought.
Elsie Houston gave two readings
One Day at Church, written by
Vera Sewers of Walkerton, and
another Little,Girls.

ily stopped• being late,for church
and also a penny contet.

Ashfield Women's Missionary
Society.
Seven members answered the
rollcall with the payment of fees
and a New Years thought. ,
Helen MacLennan and Frances
Nugent were in charge of the pro-
gram. Mrs. MacLennan led in the
devotionals. The title of her medita-
tion was A New Year's Resolution.
God in Christ has forgiven us all
our past and we need to "forget
those things which are behind." But
we must constantly remember - all
that He did, all that He said, and
especially all that He is.
Mrs. MacLean gave a summary
of the Presbyterial Annual Meeting
held in Wingham. Mrs. MacLennan.
reviewed the Glad Tidings.
Mrs. Nugent very capably intro-
duced. the Study Book for 1993 on
the Middle East. It consists of 16
different countries, the largest being
Israel, Iraq, Iran/and Saudi Arabia.
This was the birthplace of Christi-
anity, with the highest population
being Arabs and two-thirds being
under the age of 20 years. As we
are looking for newspaper and
magazine articles, we are to dwell
on the people and the churches
instead of war.
Mayme Wilkins read the minutes
of the last meeting. Elaine Collins
was appointed to the nominating
committee. .
A card of thanks was received
from the Children's • Aid of
Godefich for the Christmas dona-
tion.
We wish a speedy recovery to our
faithful member June Wylds, whc
is recovering from knee surgery. A
sympathy card was sent to the
family of Hazel Bateman.
The next meeting will be held al
Judy MacKenzie's on February 15
at 1:30 p.m. Each member is askec
to bring two cards.
